Most CEC applicants gave biometrics during their study or work permit applications and said biometrics are still valid. I wonder why they can’t make exceptions and use the old biometrics. Because it’s going to be hell when Service Canada finally opens
I don't think so.. I am a CEC candidate and haven't given bio till date as I came in 2018..this was introduced only last year so I think at least half would be waiting for bio..

In my opinion, I don’t think they will skip this step as they are giving BIL everyone who’s applying for immigration. Further, it’s highly likely that our process will be put on hold until we can give the biometrics and they can check our background with that. I just hope that they keep processing our other processes like eligibility etc.
So it's correct to understand that biometrics are a necessary component of the security check, and no progress can be made on that front without them?

I think blocking up this demand for biometrics is not really beneficial. They can always complete the application and not issue COPRs until they are comfortable.

ITA :19th Feb
AOR :26th March
Med: 27th May
BIL request :27th May
BIL completed: 1st June

Got an email from CIC (Hamilton office) yesterday,
"Hello,
We are working on Finalization of Your Application for Permanent Residence . If in Canada please provide your original and last entry date to Canada ( YYYY-MM-DD) with port of entry ( land border crossing, airport) no later than 2020/07/08."

I assume it means it's almost done? Not yet back to Canada, but will be back on the 17th. The agent asked my itinerary and said they would contact me on a later date.

Any idea how long it's gonna take to finish the whole process? Like a month or so? I'm moving to PhD in September and need PR to apply for some scholarship.

Many thanks!

What do you all think happens when service Canada reopens? The demand will be too high for the available appointments. Will earliest applications like ours be given priority over those who got AOR later like in May June or July? We have been waiting for the longest time out of everyone because we submitted our applications right before service Canada closed. I have never been this stressed in my life

Hey guys I haven't done my biometrics yet but my status was saying action required earlier and today it says submitted. When I open it says under biometrics you need biometrics, please check biometrics letter. I wonder why it changed to action required to submitted?
Hi, showing the same status, changed from action required to submitted without biometrics completion. When I go inside, need biometrics. I believe it gas nothing to do after 30 days status change because I have confirmed with one of my friend, she submitted the application some 4 days back, she also received the biometric request. Her application current status shows " your action is required"

Reposting.. few typos in my previous post

Hi, showing the same status as yours , changed from action required to submitted without biometrics completion. When I go inside the application - says "need your biometrics".
I believe it has nothing to do with the 30 days default status change because I have confirmed with one of my friend, she submitted her pr application before mine, roughly after 4 days I submitted mine. she received the biometric request a week before I receive it , we both received BIL in May, and her application current status still remain the same ie " your action is required"

I was outside of Canada. I applied EE inland and was stuck outside of Canada due to covid-19.
damn lucky. But don't they say that you cannot get it done outside of Canada as an inland applicant if you are not told otherwise? did you talk to them to get an exception?
