We are FSW, currently in US.
We got new picture request last Monday, and they received it on Wednesday. How long does it take till we get our visa & passport back? TIA

that's good news. I think it should depend how well your local VO is functioning and how many applicants are there in US currently.

Then you will complete a virtual landing document once you upload your photos (that is when they send you a letter which says congratulations you are a permanent resident of Canada now ........)

Mine earlier GCMS notes (and webform inquiry; since past 1 year or so) for the security check status was "not initiated". However, on the recent webform inquiry, I received the following response:
"Furthermore, we verified the information on file and can confirm that:
• The background verifications are in process.
• Due to COVID-19, IRCC is experiencing processing delays and we can't give accurate processing times for most types of applications. Our ability to review and process applications is also being affected."

Does this mean they have started the security check? Or is it just a manner of saying that the security has not been started yet? @legalfalcon.

background process includes security and criminality. So here they are not specific. You should have asked the question in a specific way with IRCC. They usually make a blanket statement. Happened to me when I submitted a inquiry on webform. Unless you spell out the specific stages they wont answer it.

One possibility, your file has not been picked up.
When they do, based on the requirement, the medicals may be extended or asked for a re-medical.

It's not just FSW Outlanders from India, believe me. It's the same everywhere. I applied from Jordan in March 2020. I was just wondering is it possible that another year could pass without any progress?
We're unable to make any realistic plans for our future anymore.

I'm also FSW-outland and my application has been approved since 10 October 2020, but I haven't received any request to retake the medical and I haven't received any medical extension. My AOR date is 1 March 2020. I sent a webform inquiry 3 weeks ago, but haven't received any response. We have all but given up on Canada at this point. It feels like they have failed me and are not honouring the agreement that was made. If you pay for a service you expect a service, but I have nothing to show for my efforts and application fees. My country is on the verge of a civil war with riots and looting going on uncontrolled, yet my application has been approved for 9 months already, but no visa. I have started interviewing for jobs in another country as I'm not going to sit another year in limbo waiting for Canada to wake up. Life must go on.

If you are in Canada and receive a COPR by email, which is dated, effective that date you become a PR.

IF you are not in Canada and have received a cOPR, only after you land in Canada and are admitted, effective the date of admission you will attain the PR status.

BGC is. generic term used for Criminality, security and information sharing.

Unless you get a specific response that your security is in progress, it is difficult to gauge. Alternatively you can see your GCMS notes.

Medical was extended on 12 May 2021, didnt see any other update after that 2 months already. AOR 14 March 2020. Frustrating
