I sent my application on March 5th. But, I am still waiting AOR.

I called CIC today morning. And, the office told me that my application is not open yet. One good news is that it's not returned.
I can wait more..

I called them this afternoon; the agent couldn’t find my fileand they were processing applications up till March 12th. After giving my tracking number as well as receipt
number he said possibly the files there since they haven’t taken the money out. Said he’ll send a memo to Sydney and to check back next week.

Ok people, just got the worst pice of mail ever. Please i need help!!!. according to the CIC i have not fulfilled physical presence to apply for citizenship. They must be bloody joking!!!!!!!!. I got my PR In July of 2016, I applied for Citizenship in March 2019, so thats 2 years and 7 months roughly. That leaves me with 5 months short right????. Well I applied for my PR in 2011 and got it in 2016 so thats 5 years of wait, in that time i either had a work permit or was studying, how can that not be 1 year towards my presence. like i am 200 days over the requirement an d they are saying I haven't done enough, are they mental!!!!!!. what is this!!!!!

The five-year period in you case begins on March 2015; no period before that date is applicable to the calculation of physical presence, only the five years immediately before applying can be used.

As per the rule “Every day you spent in Canada as a temporary resident or protected person before you become a permanent resident counts as a half day up to a maximum of 365 days”

So if you got your PR in 2016 that means from March 2015 to July in 2016 it does not total to the missing 150 days / 5 months you are short.

Hence the file may have been returned!!

Did you take any trips outside canada in this duration??

hi, anybody else from March 11th waiting for the AoR? I called CIC twice and was told that my application isn't active in the system which could either mean that noone has opened it yet or that it has been returned....anybody else in the same boat from March 11th or earlier?

They will open it first and then send it back if it is not complete or if there are any errors. So most probably it has not been opened yet.

All i see my ecas status updated with the application received information. I don't know when this information was posted to ECAS but as earlier updated i got AOR on May 7th.

I m March 11 too, i got the same answer on Monday when i called them, but then the next day (Tuesday) i got my AOR in the evening. So don't worry you will get to know soon
