Congratulations Durgesh. March seems to be moving pretty fast. There are still some Feb applicants who have not recd an AOR. Seems like they are processing the current applications at a good speed.

Good Luck everyone

Maybe some of those February applicants have forgot to update us if they have got AOR or not? Just a thought.

Congrats everyone! I hope I get mine soon My app was received March 5 too :) ;D

After the March 5 applicants, hopefully its gonna be us March 9 applicants soon!

Hi for all March applicants, I am going to apply this month or in April. I have two questions:
1- has any one applies with passport as ID with another piece if ID (As I don't have a driver license)
2- Has any one received his application returned back for missing documents, how long it takes to return back since he submitted it
your help is highly appreciated

I applied mine with Driving Licence and Passport as ID, because in BC we get single card for both DL and Care card.

My application was originally received on Feb 16, but it was returned on 4th March with posted stamp of 26th Feb due to missing signature on 1 page.

I'm in BC too, so I used my Nexus card as my other ID, along with my PR card and DL card, passport pages, etc...

It is weird that they don't recognize the difficulty of us Care Card/DL dual card ID holders!

Most of the current citizenship applicants are those who migrated to Canada through the new FSW system (June 2010 - present) which accepts applicants from certain occupations and places limits on their numbers. That, alongside the intensive efforts the CIC has made to clear the backlog from previous years, means that the number of new citizenship applicants (and those in-process) is currently mush smaller than it used to be a couple of years ago. That might explain why the process has become much faster with the processing time dropping from 2-3 years to 4-10 months.

Furthermore, with the introduction of the 4/6 rule the flow of new application is expected to drop further (or even halt) for at least a year since most people who qualify under the current 3/4 rule are likely to apply immediately and those who don't qualify have to wait until they become eligible after 1-2 years.

My 2 cents.

With 5 people, majority of whom have submitted their applications early March are now getting AORs IN THE SAME month. Which was probably unheard of 1-2 years back.

We expect the time to process settle down to a less than a year consistently for routine applications, particularly in the 6-8 month range, if not faster.

The added fees, does seem to make a difference.

In addition, people are now getting AORs even on the weekend, again, unheard of 1-2 years back, so definitely its an improvement - great improvement.

Thanks a lot for reply. so it takes almost 10 days for quick review of application and around 20 days to be returned if there is any mistakes or missing things... WOW

SO the passport can be used as ID despite it is required before in previous section..

Yes, the instruction guide[ http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/CIT0002ETOC.asp#CIT0002E4 ] says so...

"5. Two (2) pieces of personal identification

Both pieces of identification should show your name and date of birth, one of which must have your photo on it.

Examples include:

  • a Canadian driver’s lie
  • a Canadian health insurance card
  • a copy of the biographical page of your passport/travel document, et

If there is information on both sides of your personal identification documents, provide a photocopy of both sides.

Note: Social Insurance Number (SIN) cards, bank cards and credit cards are not acceptable pieces of identification.

yes I know it is mentioned in the guide, however when I speak with CIC agents they mention that it depends on the officer who could ask for another piece of ID.
I am just inquiring if that happened to any one and the CIC asked him for another ID after sending a copy of passoprt
