Our ECAS shows Decision Made today which is 19 December. Although we are very excited, I'm surprised that it was over 4 months between In Process and DM. Anyway, I hope rest of our March applicants will recieve DM by the end of 2014.

Just an update, we just landed in Toronto, in fact, sitting at the airport gate waiting for our flight east. Immigration folks just asked about criminal convictions and dependants. We didn't get a SIN, so we'll have to make a special trip to Service Canada. Anyway, I guess that is it except for waiting for the PR card.

Yes, that is normal since Social Insurance Number is never issued at the point of entry. Congratulations.

Are you saying you can get Social Insurance Card at the point of entry (airport or border)? Since I came to canada 24 years ago, the SIN card is mailed to your home address and takes more than a week to print it and send it, so I cannot imaging it being done at the point of entry while you are standing there. If anyone actually received the SIN card at the point of entry, please let me know.

CIC has stopped issuing SIN 'Card' but gives only a paper with the SIN number. People currently having valid SIN cards would receive the paper once their old SINs expire.

Important Notices:
•There is no fee to apply for a Social Insurance Number (SIN).
•On March 31, 2014, Service Canada began issuing SINs in a paper format (confirmation of SIN letter). Production of the plastic SIN cards has stopped.
•SIN cards that are not expired and are currently in circulation can still be used.<Unquote>

I did not know this new rule which came out a few months ago. Thanks for informing us.

Hello all!

We've been pretty busy this last week settling in, but I suppose I should provide some info to update the spreadsheet! My husband landed last Saturday, December 13th in Calgary. The weather's been pretty decent so far, I think we're lucky!

Also - on the topic of SINs, am I correct that all my husband needs to do is take his passport & confirmation of permanent residence to a Canada service building and they'll give him a SIN right away?

Yes, you are correct. You can learn more at this link http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/sin/apply/proof.shtml

COPR received yesterday after having to send ROPR receipt to Sydney so look a few weeks longer to get.
Will get it sent to me here in Canada and then will land through CIC office in Vancouver :) :)

Congratz (I'm a little jealous :D )

Did you have to make an appointment to land through CIC office in Vancouver (I am thinking to do the same, unless it's a long waiting time).

I haven't landed yet as my COPR is actually still in Australia, need to forward from my home there to me here in Canada. So I was going to wait until I got it in my hands before calling CIC. If the wait time is too long then to Peace Arch it is with me to flag pole.

Oh, I thought you called them already. I heard it's a long wait time (over a month). I guess I'll just flag pole when I get my COPR (wanted to be proactive). If in some case you get an appointment quickly, let me know :D

Hello fellow March Applicants,

I hope you are all having enjoyable holidays. I must confess that I haven't kept up the spreadsheet for the last a few weeks since I got busy with Holiday stuff. Please look at the spreadsheet and let me know if your information is not up to date.

Good luck to all of those who have landed and don't forget the rest of us, so come back and say hello.
