Hi mantonio,
Certainly it is easier to add ur partner before u become a PR but it might cause further delays due to security, criminality, medical needs to be complete for him/her(~6 months I would think).
If you add her/him after you become PR & u gt married then it might go under SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP which is a lengthy process in my opinion.

Anyway if CIC requests ur passport say on feb 25 & u get PR visa stamped n returned to u by March 15 i.e. before u go to india. When you come back and land after ur marriage, your marital status is changed so you need to inform CIC n probably they might not let you land without spouse.
Other option is you can land before ur travel to india, apply for travel document in india to come back to canada(bcos u need PR card) with that & then add your spouse.

Congrats on ur marriage and good luck :)

Hi Everyone, I am am an April 2014 CEC applicant and my medical has been done on November 12th. I have made upfront payment for RPRF. Now, I have my marriage on March 27th and I am just thinking that, if I get my PPR request by end of this month (Hoping all April applicants will start geeting RPRF/PPR by that time), I might not be able to

send my passport as it takes around 25 days to get the passport back and I have to fly to India for my marriage. I have seen the email of PPR for a friend of mine, and there CIC mentioned for any of the status change like intend of getting married ( Do you intend to get married or divorced prior to becoming a permanent resident?) etc, then we must inform CPC-O immediately. Please suggest as I heard that, its better and easier to add dependent before getting PR.

Experts, please suggest.

Thanks,
mantonio.

Thanks gopr,

Appreciate your input. I am just thinking to call CIC and talk to them for more inputs. Do you think, if I write them my intend to get married now it will be a good idea ? I mean even before getting PPR. After marriage, if I start processing my spouse's application, where(New Delhi or Ottawa) do I will have to send all the documents ? I am on Open WP now and working in Toronto with an IB.

Thanks,
mantonio.

hi im not an expert but i did got married before ppr..i think its ok as long as youre not on ppr stage.back read my other posts to see my detailed timeline..approx it would be about 6 mos delay on normal processing.be sure to gather proof of relationship like photos, email comversation, chats etc.your process will be as smooth as it is..its like hitting two birds in one stone..its worth the wait for me than wait to get to be PR then sponsor..dont mind my timeline from the time that i had my medical because i got furtherance due to my surgery.it will take lesser waiting time for you if everything goes well..congratulations on your upcoming marriage.

Thanks a ton gracemar14 for all your inputs !

im glad to help just let me know.

Hi there,
No problem. You can email CIC about your upcoming marriage and ask what would be the next steps. There is no harm in asking them really :)
Assuming you are still waiting for PPR after marriage, you have to send the documents to add spouse to Ottawa, as all CEC applications are processed in Canada. Meanwhile you can apply for her WP too based on urs.

If you r a PR when you marry, then I think its through Spouse sponsorship which I am not sure how it works - check CIC website.

If you have the PR VISA & COPR by the time you got married, then you have to inform CPC-Ottawa to add her and you cant land till then unless otherwise stated by CIC.

Hi, today my PR application status has been updated to 'In-Process'. Wanted to check if it is recommended to pay the RPRF fees upfront or it would be better if i wait for them to ask for it?
Secondly, what is the way to pay the fees upfront?

Can anyone please give me an email address to contact CIC to update in details?

I am also in the same boat , my status is in-process. I have been waiting for their request for RPRF.

Would it be fine to pay it upfront ?

Folks, go ahead and pay upfront, it will shave some time of the total time

Could you please guide us, how do we do it?

My timeline is same as you and currently my status is "In-Process"...Medicals is also showing as received.

Not sure how much time it will take for RPRF ?

I got an email today requesting more documents. An updated Background and Declaration form and also my original work contract. Makes it a bit tricky that I'm no longer in Canada so have to have my manager FedEX it to me so I can then FedEx it back to Canada but ah well...gotta do what ya gotta do!
