My test is this Friday and so far http://www.yourlibrary.ca/citizenship/ has been the most extensive one I've seen. Any news on the oath, Manyaqx?

Here is my timeline...

1. We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on March 6, 2014.

2. We sent you a letter acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on March 6, 2014. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

3. We started processing your application on April 23, 2014.

Nothing after this. I am from Toronto, so I guess my local office is St. Clair? Can someone verify this? Should I call CIC to find out if the file has been transferred to the local office?

Yes you should call.

You should frame the call to check if there was anything outstanding, if everything was in order, or if there any requests that they sent you that you did not receive. Then you can find out which office it is in.

I received fingerprint requests in the mail. This does not show up on ECAS.

any news, my friends?
Update on my file: (fxtoro) - from Toronto

We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on March 7, 2014.

We sent you a letter acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on March 7, 2014. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

We started processing your application on April 22, 2014.

On July 25, 2014 - my received line disappeared.

On August 11, 2014 - I called CIC and asked them about the update on my file and they said that my file was still in Sydney.

On September 4, 2014 (today) - I called CIC and asked them for another update and they said that my background checks and verification have been complete and my file has been transferred to my local office in Scarborough on August 15, 2014

I am not impatient; but I wanted to know what is the approximate timeline for the test letter to come from Scarborough's office. The reason I am asking is because I am scheduling some business travels in the next couple of months and wanted to know if I can delay that travel to a later time in the year. Any experience from local applicants whose local office is in Scarborough will be appreciated.

Anyhow; I am grateful for the fact that we no longer have to wait for a longer processing time like some of our past applicants.

Thanks

Yes, if it got scheduled, you can always set a different date

According to http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/cit-test.asp

"We will send you a notice with the time and date for your test.

If you are not available on that date, contact the Call Centre. We will schedule your test on a different date. If you do not attend the test, you must contact the Call Centre or we will close your application."

And then there is a more detailed answer on http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=368&t=5

"Can I reschedule my citizenship test if I cannot attend it?

Yes. If you are not available on the date and time of your citizenship test, contact the Call Centre. We will schedule your test on a different date.

If you do not attend the test, you must contact the Call Centre within 60 days of the test date. Tell us why you did not attend the test. We will schedule your test on a different date if you have a valid reason. If you do not contact CIC within 60 days after missing the test, we will close your application. You will have to apply for citizenship again.

This situation applies to both the first time you write the citizenship test and the re-test if you failed the written test the first time."
