Hi Ann

Talking about vacation! How is it calculated in Canada? For example. Here in Greece and in most parts of Europe anyone starting in the work force gets 23 working days in a calendar year. That means really about 32 days in total paid vacation plus the vacation bonus! (the bonus is like a half a month salary)
I know that in Canada things a different and I forgot how vacation is given there because I've been away for centuries hehehe.
Can you tell me?

Do i need to inform CIC? how?

I need advice (especially from the seasoned members of the forum). :)

By looking at our MANILA-VO Status, i see that most of the applicants get PPR by the earliest 6 months, averaging at 7-8 months. If this is so, I will be expecting PPR by september 2013-october 2013...

This is my dilemma: i will be traveling to the US for vacation for 2 months and will not be in the Philippines September-October 2013. Do i need to inform them about my plans of travel (because I'm worried that PPR might come on those months and I wont be here to accept the letter/send the passport since I will be in the US)? If i need to inform them... How? do i call? what number? email? what email?

Another thing bothering me, if I do inform them -- do you think this will this affect the timeline of my application?

How many days does the embassy usually give as leeway to submit the passport once they issue PPR?

Thanks. hope you can help shed some light on this :-[

Ottawa gave us 60 days, not sure whether different VOs are different. If you are abroad when the PPR comes, just send them an email letting them know that you are traveling out of the country and will submit your passport upon your return. That shouldn't be a problem.

Hi Tom, I live in the US at this time (applying outland) and the company I work for has been very generous with amount of paid vacation I was getting....but that is changing. Sigh. Oh well, it was a good thing while it lasted, and I'm leaving soon anyway. ;D

base on what I read from here I mean from the forum the embassy will only give you 45 days to submit your passport and any required documents upon recieving notince of PPR..

My understanding is that if they don't receive the passport within the specified time, as a matter of procedural fairness they need to send you a second notice before they can reject you. So if you do receive PPR while you are away and you know that you will not return before the PPR deadline they've given you, you should notify them when you will return (do it by email, so you have a record in writing), and also know that they won't reject you if you miss the first deadline. So don't worry, go on vacation, and check your email frequently (and make sure someone at home can check your mail frequently in case PPR comes by regular mail).

A two-month vacation sounds nice...
