Hello Sweden,

I notice your visa was issued at London VO. Could I know when the London VO asked for your passport how long did they take to stamp your visa.

I'm starting to worry about our file. I've been stupidly comparing it to other people's timelines *sigh* Hopefully nothing IS wrong with it, I just have an officer who is taking his or her time with our file!

even I am comparing with others timelines...(I should'nt be)
every file is different
and I am hoping the same as you are... nothing IS wrong with it...
my file (As i saw in gcms notes) was not even touched for 3months...was just collecting dust i guess.... hoping they have started to work on it..and will finish it asap with ppr

Don't worry, the Buffalo move has made the US files a bit messed up, similar to the way that the Damascus closure has messed up Ankara files.
I also did a few panicky scenarios about our file, especially after I saw a couple of people in our VO getting their visas who had applied after us. But hey- who said everything will be in a certain order? But the good thing is, sooner (rather than later hopefully) all of us will be through this :)

I'm seriously trying to prevent myself from comparing. Nothing good comes out of it. Just more stress, which is the last thing I need right now!

Good luck to all! I'm going to hide in the corner now.

Hey everyone, just thought I'd take a peek in here and take a seat with all the March'ians. 8)

Hoping everyone in here gets contacted for their approvals soon and end off 2012 on a super high note.

Does anyone have an idea how long it would normally take to get approval after "in process" status?

It has been more than 6 months and Ottawa did not look at my file!!! GCMS shows they have done nothing. I'm sick to see no consistency or fair treatment, and yes I've seen a similar case who has already received their Visa 5months ago

How long did it take you to get your GCMS notes?

Hey Saimeet,

Sorry for the delay - didn't see your question. As I am from a visa-exempt country, London didn't ask for my passport. They issued the COPR directly ( at least I hope so! I haven't received it yet). My ecas went to "decision made" on the 8th of November (and a little before that my "home address" changed to Canada), and I'm still waiting to receive the COPR - I'm already in Canada on a tourist visa. there is a thread for London VO if you want to join ! here is the general one http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/thread-for-outland-london-uk-applications-t49436.6420.html and one for "non-visa exempt" going through London ( it seems that it takes a little longer, presumably for background checks) http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/thread-for-outland-london-non-uk-applications-t67595.60.html

the spreadsheet for London is on the "general thread" but you can see it in my signature if you want to have an idea of the timeline.
Good luck,
Sweden

Hi Sweden,

I see here that you say being from a non visa exempt county may take longer than being from a visa exempt.. Is this the same still if your visa office is in a non visa exempt country too?

Curious to know if they will still take as long and if they will need any passport etc from us or should I just be looking for a COPR.. Our VO doesnt seem to update ecas often.

Thanks

Hey blondie1216,

I am not sure about other Vo.. I know that from the spreadsheet in London it's quite clear that applicants from non visa exempt countries tend to wait a little more, because of background checks taking longer than for visa-exempt (most of visa-exempt applicants going through the UK VO are from Europe, so sharing of information is much easier). However - it is not a "general rule", as some people from visa-exempt countries also wait for quite a while... it has more to do with the file and what the case looks like (if the person is living in the UK, Scandinavia, Ireland, but from a non-visa-exempt, it means more paperwork for the Police Checks etc, as residency and nationality are different).
So - I am not sure about other VO, sorry! Hope you hear from CIC soon.
Good luck,
Sweden
