Application filed May 2006
Started Processing November 2006
Transfer to Sudbury (now closed) May 2007
AIP June 2009
April 2012: response to status inquiry where CIC says "Our records confirm that your application received approval in principle in June 2009 – meaning the requirement to apply for and obtain a Permanent Resident Visa from a Canadian visa office abroad in the normal manner, would be waived. Currently, officers are proceeding with statutory background checks (medical, criminal, security) on this case. You will be contacted should immigration officers require anything further. Therefore, it appears that this application is proceeding normally with no unexpected or unwarranted delays."
June 20: received OWP.
So if you think you've waited a long time, imagine being the poor soul who has been "in process" for SIX YEARS and CIC describes as "... this application is proceeding normally with no unexpected or unwarranted delays."
