I just sent an e-mail to the Minister of CIC. I did not complain or use language that would be seen as negative. I just asked a few questions in an effort to better understand what is causing the delays. I know they will probably not reply, but I was careful not to include anything that is on their list of things they *will not reply to*.
As a Canadian, I am disappointed, but somewhere deep inside me I still have hope. I know things may take longer than we first expected, but I also know that in the end we will all be successful.
A petition is not something that will work without the backing of the media. If the media gets involved, then we have some hope. I have a friend in Toronto who works for CBC. I could contact him to ask for his help, but at this point I want to wait a bit to see what happens in May. If things get worse, then I will contact him (he knows people who could help - and he has already said he will help if I need it).
Surely there are others who know people in the media? The only way to get our message out is to be united and have the mainstream media backing us up...or at the minimum, reporting the facts.
I, too, am anxious. I've wanted to leave China for years. Yes, I am living with my wife and son, but I am living in a place I no longer like (read: hate!). So I'm suffering, too...maybe more so, because I live in a place that I can't stand...and have been doing so for years!
Anyway, that's just my opinion and if we are serious about doing something, then people need to step up. I am willing to step up, but like I said, I want to wait a bit until I see what happens in early May.
Cheers,
FS
