I've heard from a friend who works for CIC in Ottawa that Immigration has seen some big layoffs lately. That, combined with some confusion between the new Ottawa pilot, closing of Buffalo has created some chaos in processing. This apparently seems to be more the problem than a huge influx of applications. I just hope that in all this confusion that some applications didn't get lost

Apparently they closed 19 more offices which would probably mean more delays

I don't believe those offices have much to do with sponsor's approval. But if they have reduced the number of staffs in CPC-M or CPC-O, then that's really not good for us.

It was not an approval yet... just an AOR... saying they received my application on March 27... for sure you'll be receiving it soon.

Still you are lucky...I was Feb 28th and just got my AOR tonite as well....and there are still some earlier Feburians(??) who have nothing......nothing makes sense with CIC....absolutely nothing

My app was rec'd 3/13 and have also not heard anything. Have you called the cic by chance? I cannot call as i am in the US. If you have called, have they said anything about our timeframe.

I just received and AOR today! they received my application 03/27/2012.

please add me on the spreadsheet... VO is manila and destination Toronto...

I've got a question about extending my visitor status for the 2nd time, I don't think the pr will go fast enough so time to look into plan B.
I come from a non visa country and extend it once for 6 months (total of 12 months in CA)
Is there someone with experience for extension for the 2nd time. Would like to get a re-entry one but can't find anything on the forum. Could I apply for that?
What will happen if I leave and come back to CA 2 months later? (without a extension) I really want to go 'home' for a while but not with the risk of being hold at customs.

There is no such thing as a "re-entry" visitors visa. You leave and come back at your own risk. It's COMPLETELY up to the border to let you back in or reject you.

Maybe that's the reason why I couldn't find anything about it. I assumed that because of the note on my visitor extension saying: this is not a re-entry visa.
