Checking my email time and time again since last 3 days but still no approval. :(
What takes them so long to approve after opening a file?
some files are approved in a day others take for ever ....

It would be interesting to know exactly how many hours visa officers spend on processing a file. Even though most people have to wait over a year to get their PR, I bet the actual man-hour processing time for the average application is about a week. Most of the processing time involves applications sitting on a shelf in some office collecting dust!

oh I did not have patience.....I just didn't have a choice in the matter......and I very much dislike being not in control of my life!!!!!

Just got the aor!!!!! I am soo happy for something finalllly and for a file number!!
But I'm worried... The email is addressed to me (I am the sponsor) and it says it confirm that your application for permanent residence in canada has been received .......
Shouldn't it be addressed to my husband?? Or do they think I'm the one applying for a PR?? Shouldn't they be confirming my application for sponsorship not PR?

Where other ppls addressed this way??

yes that is the way they are addressed....so when you can get onto ecas the UCI number will be for you and the File/Application is for your spouse.......

Hey Chuladaa,

Congratulations on your AOR, a good way to start the week end!

Communication about the first part is addressed to the sponsor, as it is only the assessment of the sponsor that is done at that stage, so it is normal. They confirm that your application has been received - in their eyes, you ( as a sponsor) are also applying as you are "asking" to become a sponsor ( and be approved as such) in relation with the PR application. So until the sponsorship is approved, the correspondence is to you only.

So - all is good, nothing to worry about. Next step will be the approval, it can take from 1 day to 2 weeks more or less, so you'll need a little bit more of patience.

enjoy the week end!

Yes this is what mine said also

This confirms that your application for permanent residence in Canada has been received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) on 2012/03/01

Don't worry ! Be Happy!
