I actually stressed out about the NBI clearance after PDOS, so ayun kuha ko clearance sa NBI 1 week before my flight, inabot ako maghapon sa pila only to be told may kapareho ko ng name at after 2 weeks pa before marelease ang clearance. Lalo ako kinabahan, pray na lang na walang criminal record ang kapangalan ko he he :D

Naisip ko bahala na sa airport, dinala ko na lang resibo ng NBI. Tapos pagdating wala naman hiningi sa airport, they are much more concerned if may visa ka talaga as well as the sticker for PDOS. Maski sa Vancouver they will not ask for NBI clearance, mas advice ko pa na magdala ng extra photos in case sabihin ng IO na di acceptable ang nakadikit sa COPR mo... That's what happened to me buti na lang at may dala akong extra photos.

Hope this helps. :)

Hi,

Would like to join this forum! Wala lang.... hehehe. Malayo pa naman kasi kami, "in-process" pa lang ang status ng application namin. Pero malayo nga daw eh malapit na din, kaya join na ako dito ngayon kasi anytime soon we will also be on the landing stage na.

Makiki-usyoso lang muna sa mga usapan..

thank you.

Hello everyone!

We'll be landing in Southeast Calgary AB this Juy 27th, would you have any advise where we could buy cheap beds/mattresses, pls.? are monoblock chairs and tables popular in canada? any "2nd hand" store you could suggest? We're also planning to bring in small electric appliances such as flat iron, hair dryer, ceramic hair straightener, microwave, electric kettle - is this a good decision? or we could just buy them there? as much as possible, we really would like to save on every dollar that we currently have. we're 4 in the family and I would still look for a job when we get there.

Thanks so much for all your insights. :)

You can bring small appliances of course, just keep in mind the output here is 110v just so you're sure if what you'll bring will work properly. Stores always have mattresses on sale, especially if there's a holiday coming up when you arrive, there's also a lot of garage sales around this time of the year and you can check out liquidation centers as well.

when we lived in Calgary, one of my husband's nephews went to CUPS (?) I think it was a non-profit organization located in downtown Calgary....(where the C-train runs through....before the Bay). He was given an order/request form for a bed or 2 i think at Sleep country. He told us he only needed a vehicle to haul it (that's why he asked us for help). It was free too yet mismatched. He has also been told about this organization that will let you "work" for furniture. I don't know which it was but my husband's nephew said that they'll let you buy furniture from them but you have to work for it (meaning volunteer some extra hours of your free time to them...ex. after work and weekends) till you have acquired enough hours to pay off the furnitures you need. Again this is only through my Nephew, you can ask other organizations there for other programs they might have for new immigrants.
