Hey,

Sorry but I can't read 90% if the other Manila threads because they aren't in English. If anyone else is in the same boat we can post updates here in English. It's a bit frustrating to see so many posts and not be able to understand them.

I'm a July applicant. Was doc requested at the beginning of December but haven't heard anything since submitting my documents.

Why would anyone not post in English or French?

I'm in the same boat I'm waiting on Manila because South Korea and Japan closed immigration down :(

Hello,

Well a lot of members on that thread are from the Philippines thus they use the native language to communicate, but I understand that Manila Visa Office processes applications from other countries as well such as yours (I presumed you're not from the Philippines based on your comment).

I saw your comment on the MVO thread- since you received the auto response email, that's one proof that they've got your document. In the receipt email you'll see that they are committed to respond to the email within 28 days, but they can also choose not to reply because per their statement

"We will review your message shortly and if you do not receive a reply within our service standards (28 days), this means that the information requested is available on our websites or your application is still within processing times.".

From what I read from other posts, I see that there are instances wherein MVO will say that they have not received your document, but usually the prompt to that is if you were not able to receive the auto-response email.

Not sure if calling will help, I believe they don't respond to calls. Your sponsor in Canada can try to call the CIC call center but since you are still within processing times, they will probably not divulge anything unfortunately.

So the receipt email is a good sign, but since you requested the GCMS notes, might as well check the content of that as well.

A lot of MVO applicants who are in the Philippines are getting quick updates, but probably that's because it's the home country and it's easier to do investigations there with the locals. If the MVO has to communicate with another country back and forth, I believe that will cause additional times. However, with the recent news that CIC is committed to process applications faster, it will benefit all pending applications. They have quite a number of backlog. Even Filipino applicants, some are still way back first half of 2016 with no or just recently got updated so your patience will really be tested.

Goodluck with your application. Since you applied July, it's there just be patient. Some of those with additional doc request, I think a month or two their application is updated. Especially if your background check has been changed to in progress.

Thanks for your reply. I'm actually the sponsor and my partner is Korean so neither of us speak Tagalog. It's killing me to see so much information that I can't read haha so I thank you for your answer. I thought this thread would be useful for people who can't follow the other thread. If some bilingual folks could post English updates here occasionally that'd be great!

You're welcome :) That's true, a lot of Filipinos are bilingual as well, but you see they may not realize that MVO is processing applications for other countries as well. Anyway, I'm Filipino as well and I actually got today my passport request while I'm here in Canada visiting my husband so I actually posted a separate inquiry as to my situation. I'll probably send my passport to CPC-Ottawa as indicated in the PPR email, but I also informed MVO that I'm here under TRV so as not to cause any confusion as to where my passport should be sent back *though I know I will indicate the return address anyway in the Canada post envelope, but still better to over inform MVO i guess haha.

As for updates... the August applicants onwards are the lucky ones, most of them got the PPR in 3 months time. I think that's when the faster turnaround times started. I'm a June applicant, my background check has changed to in progress way back Oct 15 but I only got the PPR email today. A lot of June applicants had the same scenario. For July applicants, it's a mix- some got PPR as well, but others are still waiting.

The other convos in there are about what to do for passport submission and some clarifications on how to fill up the application. I've been a lurker on that thread ever since I submitted my application but now that it's done, I'll probably try to help other people as well who have questions haha.

Again, goodluck! Let me know if you have further questions, would try to help if I can.

Hi, if you don't mind sharing the additional document/s requested from you or your spouse? I am confident that you will soon be getting passport request pretty soon **fingers/toes crossed** :) Quite a number of earlier 2016 applicants are now getting PPR or an email message about pre-arrival services. That pre-arrival services email is a good indication that one will soon be getting passport request.

Keep the Faith and stay positive :) There are also some 2015 applicants that are still waiting for updates.

Thanks so much for the kind words. We don't have the most straight forward application but tried our best to assemble our package well. We haven't received the pre-arrival services email but waiting on it daily haha.

The doc request was for a personal explanation of a DUI on my partner's criminal check. She was under the Canadian legal limit but in Korea small penalties start at 0.05 so it was on her police check.

Another reason I expect our application to be delayed is that we aren't married and our families haven't met due to our distance and work schedules. However, we only received that request... I'm curious if they'll ask for more later. I'm hoping that they just asked for everything they needed at once. Fingers crossed!

Good luck to you all!

Hello everyone,

Just noticed the background check bit on mycic has changed to "in progress" but the eligibility section still reads "review in progress". We haven't received pre-arrival email yet either... Any estimate on how long it'll take based on other Manila applicants? Again, I'm sorry but I can't understand the other Manila board well. Thanks!

I was thinking the exact same thing as I was scrolling through that thread. Wish I could understand what they were talking about. I'm the same as you. My husband is Korean and we live in Seoul^^

Based on the Manila trend, when someone's BC changed to IP, it would take within the day to a week or two before they receive their PPR. But some could take a month or two and still no PPR yet. It's really a case to case basis. :)
Yes, I managed to pick that up on the other board so I'm trying to keep calm and not get my hopes up. Of course, I've checked the website and my email about 200 times since I noticed the change! My hope is that they're waiting for the new year and later this week we'll receive PPR :)

Yeah, it's frustrating for applicants from Korea and Japan for sure. We are in Seoul as well. My contract finishes at the end of February so we are hoping to leave together on March 1. Not sure if it'll happen but fingers crossed. Good luck to you! The process is moving so fast these days.

My contract also ends at the end of February. We hope to leave together April or May. Give the grandparents time to get used to their grandson leaving lol. Good luck to you as well!
