Hey,
Sorry but I can't read 90% if the other Manila threads because they aren't in English. If anyone else is in the same boat we can post updates here in English. It's a bit frustrating to see so many posts and not be able to understand them.
I'm a July applicant. Was doc requested at the beginning of December but haven't heard anything since submitting my documents.
Hello,
Well a lot of members on that thread are from the Philippines thus they use the native language to communicate, but I understand that Manila Visa Office processes applications from other countries as well such as yours (I presumed you're not from the Philippines based on your comment).
I saw your comment on the MVO thread- since you received the auto response email, that's one proof that they've got your document. In the receipt email you'll see that they are committed to respond to the email within 28 days, but they can also choose not to reply because per their statement
"We will review your message shortly and if you do not receive a reply within our service standards (28 days), this means that the information requested is available on our websites or your application is still within processing times.".
From what I read from other posts, I see that there are instances wherein MVO will say that they have not received your document, but usually the prompt to that is if you were not able to receive the auto-response email.
Not sure if calling will help, I believe they don't respond to calls. Your sponsor in Canada can try to call the CIC call center but since you are still within processing times, they will probably not divulge anything unfortunately.
So the receipt email is a good sign, but since you requested the GCMS notes, might as well check the content of that as well.
A lot of MVO applicants who are in the Philippines are getting quick updates, but probably that's because it's the home country and it's easier to do investigations there with the locals. If the MVO has to communicate with another country back and forth, I believe that will cause additional times. However, with the recent news that CIC is committed to process applications faster, it will benefit all pending applications. They have quite a number of backlog. Even Filipino applicants, some are still way back first half of 2016 with no or just recently got updated so your patience will really be tested.
Goodluck with your application. Since you applied July, it's there just be patient. Some of those with additional doc request, I think a month or two their application is updated. Especially if your background check has been changed to in progress.
