Im interested din sa cathay; halos pareho ang intended flight dates natin (since visa expiry namin is nov 30) so probably 1st week. nakausap ko si arnel few days ago, puede pala tayong magpareserve muna, kahit di muna pala babayaran kasi we cannot avail of the immigrant discount if we will not present them our visas ( tama ba pagkaintindi ko sa kanya? :D). And ang final destination namin is saskatoon, SK. kaya may connecting flight pa kami.

hello guys, musta na po? i just want to share my landing experience.

I arrived here in toronto last June 8, 2011. Maganda ang panahon dito mainit parang Pinas din although malamig ang simoy ng hangin. I just want to share regarding goods to bring, I actually prepared the Personal effects accounting form but the IO didn't ask for it. They just focus on your declaration card, you just have to be honest regarding the things you are bringing in, just declare it especially the amount of money you are bringing. If $10k & above you should have the form declaring it but less than 10k no problem. I actually brought $9k+, a little less than 10k so that I don;t have to declare it. The IO was very polite and friendly, she just asked me how much fund did i bring, I just told her the real exact amount and she didn't even bother to see and check it. She asked the address on where will i stay for a while and to send the PR card. Basically that was it, then she said, "welcome to Canada"... super sarap ng pakiramdam ng lumabas ako doon, I was actually nervous & worried too because I was not bringing the minimum required funds i guess I told her right away that i have relatives that will support me and provide me everything while still looking for job kaya siguro hindi na ako naquestion.. I don't recommend that to anyone (baka pagalitan ako ni Heatspine hehehe), you should have to bring the minimum required baka machempuhan kayo at ma incomplete ang entry at maganda rin na walang worries habang nagbibiyahe..

Tomorrow I wll apply for SIN, health insurance and open bank account... Anyways, hanggang dito na muna.... Good luck sa maglaland pa lang...Have a safe trip..

Congrats sa mga na nagDM at nakareceived na ng visa....God bless!

St. Raphael travel & tours, I got my ticket $800 taxes included except for terminal fee which is 750. Cathay pacific, ok naman comportable and nagustuhan ko naman ang food and refreshment, the only problem is ung connecting flight sa hongkong masyadong malayo need pang sumakay ng rail transit kaya dapat alerto at magtanong kung saan ang location ng boarding gate number, pag land palang ng plane sa hongkong i paflash nila sa monitor ang gate number sa connecting flight for the final destination...

thanks, heatspine! one more thing: Do we need to have ALL of our POF in CAD? Im thinking of just converting half of it ($9K) in Canadian $ and the rest, i'll keep it as US$ then i'll just make a BANK DRAFT for it?

hi canimmigrant, heatspine, gandasia and to all Senior Forum members (and sa lahat na rin!! ;D ;D ;D):
we're planning to land in Vancouver around October this year, but our final destination is Saskatoon, SK. Wala kaming immediate contact when we land in BC, but our cousin will pick us up sa Saskatoon. I have read about Resettlement Agencies (RA)that would offer help with the accomodation during thefirst few days habang wala pa kaming nahahanap na apartment. Here is my question: Do we have to contact RA to make arrangements PRIOR to landing in SK?
