My wife told her parents about the PPR and how the visa will probably be there in June. They actually had the nerve to ask her to stay a few more months for her birthday (last birthday), her niece's birthday (last birthday) etc. Of course they tend to get her to pay for these events (she's rich cause of me you know). Everything since we submitted the app has been done large because it is a "last". "Last" thing I want is another round.

She just told them she has been waiting over 3 years for this and she is looking forward to all the "firsts". Her first birthday with me, our first anniversary together, my first birthday with her, etc.

Yes exactly... my wife's family is similar. But she wants to get here so she can see her first snowfall. I keep telling her that after you see the first one then you get sick of it. But she doesn't believe it.. I can't wait for our first snowball fight

Yeah.. what happens between my guy and his family sometimes regarding money really makes us sad. Through the years he's felt like they only love him if he's making a success of himself. Those tough high expectation Chinese fathers you know They are too proud to ask much from us, which I really respect. But man, all those 'lasts' can really pile up the bills! It's funny, when my family has a party we actually spend less.. about $60 on appies, burgers to cook, bit of potato salad and some beers. They have to go all extravagant with the roasted pigs and all that $$$

Yay for snow! We went to Ski Dubai once and he thought it would be a good day to start skiing I said nooooo, I need you in one piece! We can try later.. now we will wait a while for next year Maybe I will take him to the red necks up north... ski doo... He's hoping to go Moose hunting too ???

Now, if 80% of apps are done in 14 months, and the average distance of Tagum to N.B. is 14,046km, and if we assume the maximum app is no older than 3 years, what speed will your wife need to walk/swim to arrive at the same time as your visa?

Well guys, I was planning to get my whole family together and announce the happy news that he has his visa.. when he got the visa. But he said something vague about leaving the Philippines on Facebook and all of a sudden everybody is asking me what's going on. It was a bit of a spoiler.. but I was super disappointed by everyone's reactions - My Mom just commented "oh, so soon?" and immediately changed the topic.. My Dad has hearing loss and attention deficit so I'm not sure if he got the story or not. Grandparents are still trying to hook me up with available nerds as though I'm still single.. My brother's reaction was "oh, huh, that's been a while" and his wife was pretty incredulous that CIC accepted us as a couple and commented "but doesn't he have kids or something?"

I really want him to feel welcomed and it's super depressing that people can't accept us as a couple as much as they would accept other people. So this is kind of anti-climactic. :'( Hope it all can change when he gets here.

I couldn't even get them to support her on facebook making her feel welcome. The craziest thing of all is that my brother did the exact same thing marrying a Filipina 3 years ago. I actually met my wife when we went over for his wedding. Oh ya, my parents went for his wedding, and then again for the Baptism of his son...so I feel ya!

Sorry, you are wrong. ;D At least based on the numbers. You know, I decided to calculate the walk/swim for 14 months anyway. Works out to 1.14kim/hour, which is a pretty slow walk. So walking here is faster than CIC. Woohoo!

Oh, I got my GCMS notes (with 1 day to spare, impressive). If I am reading it right the only thing it is waiting on is the medical. And it has been like that since mid-March. Gee, thanks for telling me guys!

It also confirmed that my app was routed through the disaster that was CPC-Ottawa. And while some parts say "in-progress" my overall ECAS status is still "Application Received". Who designed this system?

And finally, unlike what some people said about apps being digitized and this is what goes around, that is false. They identify the format of the items as they are transferred and they do not get digitized until they hit the VO (in this case Manila) which of course offers all sorts of opportunities for documents to be lost. No wonder parts of CJG's app went missing. And I know of one person whose was lost in CPC-Ottawa.

As I said before, who designed all this? He needs to be signed up for the Action Plan and retrained as a plumber or something.

I had no support at all...to the point I laid into my parents for never coming over for our wedding, birth of our first daughter and finally they made no plans to come over for my daughters 1st birthday and the birth of our second. They did end up coming and fell in love with all three of them. But it did hurt a lot that there was so little interest before I snapped on the family. Yeah! That's totally it.. My Brother got married to his long time partner of 15 years as an afterthought.. and they were all like wow! As if that changes everything.. they gave me 2 weeks notice to attend and it was too late, I had already booked my Christmas flight to the Philippines. They had a baby 6 months later and everybody was so proud! Finally doing the right thing. I'm invited to family weddings as a single, baby showers, all events acknowledging other people's partnerships and never even get a token "how's the Mr" except from one batsh*t crazy aunt which I am forever grateful for. Any time I bring up my relationship it's all awkward silence and rapid change of topic.

He asked me to fix his Facebook a few weeks ago.. I found out the problem was that he had sent friend requests to my Aunts and Uncles and most had all said they don't know him and Facebook blocked him from sending more friend requests. Ouch.

When my Brother declared that his child only had Aunts, I finally lost my sh*t on him and said that he should acknowledge my partner the same as I acknowledge his.

I see how that hurts.. especially since your Brother paved the way for you. Ouch.. Hope it gets better for all of us when we're all finally in Canada.
