Hi im scheduled to leave before july 24, 2014. I would like to ask if anyone has an idea on the maximum number of medicines that I can bring to canada. I have maintenance meds for my kidney and planning to bring atleast good for 6 months supply. Will that be okay? Thank you!

are you traveling as a visitor or landing as a pr? If you are traveling as a visitor, how long do you intend to be in canada? If it's for 6 months, then it's reasonable to bring 6 mo. of prescription drugs. Make sure they are in bottles labeled with your name as the patient. CIC isn't going to take your meds away if they are legitimate prescription for a medical issue.

Hi im travelling as an immigrant under family class sponsorship. Im not sure when I can have a prescription under a specialist in canada for my meds since the PR card will be given after 3-6 months of landing?

i can't see them expecting you to have a prescription from a canadian doctor, since you are not a legal resident of canada yet. if you have the drugs, i suspect a doctor prescribed them in your own country. if you are coming to canada to land as an immigrant, then i can't see them questioning 6 mo. of medication that is needed for legit medical concerns. since you are immigrating, i suspect you will probably have some sort of medical records from your doctor, or proof of an ongoing prescription? border agents are humans after all. they aren't going to take away someone's medications, unless there is suspicion of illegal intent, which i'm sure will be easily proven wrong when they look up the type of medication you are bringing in.
