Hi everyone,

I got my PR in 2022 did a sift landing in Dec 2022 and got out pr cards in April 2023. my wife lost her mom around that time so we weren't able to move and have been on h1b in USA. We are looking to move to Canada soon but want jobs before we do so. Our pr card expires in April 2028. Some questions

1. When is the latest we should move in order to maintain our pr status and have it renewed with no issues?
2. What date should we go by? The date we landed and stamped on our copr or the date on our pr card?

Let me know if you need any other info

Not sure what your wife’s mother has to do with moving from the US to Canada when your wife’s family does not appear to live in the US. You must meet the 2 out of 5 year requirement in 5 years from your landing date. The date on your PR card is not related to RO. I would recommend you have some buffer time because many wait until they have 2 years left and when an emergency comes up or they need to travel for business or want to travel for a vacation they they risk getting reported for not being compliant with their RO if they leave Canada

Thanks! So my question is when does the RO start? From what date? Date of landing?
