What info will you fill there in Q6(a) and (b) parts if you are applying as a student?

@asaad
I think 6 part A. Is citizen if you were born in your present country and i Hope that's the case with most of us. and part B. Is for those who are on some kind of visa like student or temp worker so we can leave it blank as its understood that citizenship is for life.
Hope it helps
All the best

@sehdevadesh

Thanks for your help. The language used in the question is ambiguous. Did they mean native country or Canada? People like Hasnaat gave me a different answer for the same question. I wanted to double check it.

Part(a) student.
Part(b) write your duration of course e.g my course is 4 years. I'll write 2015/01/06..when my expected course will end.

your answer makes more sense since we can not predict when our course will actually end. and we don't know what is the length of our visa will be till we get it in our hands...

shahab, bleach...u guys had actually sent your forms...what did u fill here and please clear it up for furture applicants?

I, too, have the same problem. I feel like the question is too vague. Perhaps we should ask those who already have the visa.

Bro use your common sense here. You're applying from pakistan and you're a citizen of this country so tick only "Citizen" and you don't need to write anything in part (b) because citizenship doesn't have an expiry date lol. All other parts i.e (Permanant Resident, Temporary Resident, Worker, Student, Other) are for people who are living in a country other than their country of citizenship. For example you're a pakistani citizen living in Dubai on a work visa, then you tick "Worker" if you're apply from Dubai.

Hope that makes sense to you.

Cheers ;-)

No, that's wrong.If they wanted to ask that they should have written `The country from which you are applying`.They said `where applying`.That is Canada.So it would be student.

Leave it blank.And yeah they have asked for the citizenship in the earlier question why would they ask the same thing again.You have your passport to prove you are a citizen of pakistan.

part(b) is not for your citizenship validity.

Let's suppose. If u r a pakistani. If you have gone to usa on work visa and now u want to study in Canada and want to apply from USA...then u will write "worker" which is your current status in usa and then u will mention the validity of this status
in part
(b). In other words, the validity of your work visa.

Since, I am not living or working in other country ..im currently living in Pakistan as a ntive citizen so i will pick citizenship in par(a) and leave part(b) as blank.

That's what my understanding stands right now. I will need to conform it from reliable sources, though.

my older brother applied for his masters in usa which was two years ...everyone knows that..but he got only 6 months student visa....technically, duration of his immigration status which is student which will stand valid for 6 months not the duration of his masters course...

i am slightly favoring with acemsyed on this...

Ok your choice.But for me its would be student.It wont matter that much, because you already have your Pakistani passport to prove you are a citizen of the country.

OMG this is ridiculous. CIC have used less words to say pretty much the same thing you said with hell of a lot more words.

Now here's a scenario for you, suppose you're a citizen of pakistan but applying from UK where you reside as a permanent resident. Won't CIC be curious to find out as to how you are managing to apply for visa from UK when you yourself declared that your country of citizenship is Pakistan while answering a part of question 1 in the study permit application. 6a and 6b have been designed to get that extra information out of the applicant. Now if even such vivid example doesn't make sense to you, only Allah knows what will...

@ asad100101 You do as you deem appropriate mate, i am 101% sure about the righteousness of my opinion on this matter. But you have all the right to do your research before putting an answer there and that's exactly what I would have done if I was in your shoes.

Cheers ;-)

Hello Mr. first of all mind your language.I didn't label your statements ridiculous or berserk in my comments.I told him what i though opinion, you did what you thought.But keep the attitude to yourself.And their English is confusing in this question, that's why asad asked the question.Dont act as you are a professional in this.My cousin stated the same answer and he got the visa.They don't reject you for such silly points anyways.And Again i say they asked for the citizenship before in the earlier question and they have your passport to judge that too. :/

Easy mate ! lol don't snap !
Your comprehension is ... u know, their English is fine.
They do reject you for silly reasons and if there's a person assessing your application with the intent to search for a reason to reject you then you are giving him/her that reason. Better play safe than risk it all. Also, what kind of impression are you giving the VO when he asks you about Potato and you answer him with Carrot lol (i must say your cousin is one hell of a lucky chap and so will you be if you fill out your application in the same manner and still manage to get a visa) lol
And Again i say they asked for the citizenship before in the earlier question and they have your passport to judge that too. :/
You are a living human being, ever wondered why you need to submit a birth certificate in some cases ? No further comment/explanation should be required. And don't expect me to stoop down to your level. Salam-o-Alaikum !

Take a cold shower, that might calm you down.

Cheers ;-)
