Made Lots of Errors in Citizenship Application - Withdraw or Webform

Despite quadruple checking everything on my Canadian citizenship application before submitting it, I realized a few days later that I somehow misremembered / forgot to include a few pieces of information in the Work and Study History section. I put the wrong dates in one of my Work History entries and because of that I forgot to include a brief period of unemployment in 2020 (1 month in between jobs). I forgot to include freelance work I did in 2022, I did not mention part time studies that I took in 2023 (it was one course and I completely forgot I took it), and accidentally said “Yes” to filing taxes in 2024 when we can’t even file taxes for 2024 yet. Since I have made such a mess of things, do I bother updating using the webform or at this point should I just withdraw and start a new application? Especially since I don’t have AOR yet so I can likely get a refund. I am 500 days over my physical presence eligibility so I am good there, but I am now rightfully concerned about inconsistencies with CRA records as it is not going to match.

If I do withdraw, how soon can I reapply? Any thoughts would be helpful!

The things you mentioned above does not make you ineligible for citizenship. Once you get your AOR via webform you can update IRCC about all the above discrepancies.

I ended up withdrawing the application and starting a new one. It was less of a headache! Since I withdrew before getting an AOR, it was a simple and straightforward process.
Thanks a lot for your response! When did you receive confirmation of the withdrawl? Like when did you hear back from them after you submitting withdraw request?

I am also very curious to know this @alessainebuckley - would be so grateful if you can update us.
Apologies about the delay! So what I did was I requested for a refund of my citizenship application fees at the same time that I applied to withdraw my application. This can be done through the IRCC payment service portal and I got the refund within a couple of days. I actually never got a confirmation that my last application was officially withdrawn, I only got confirmation that my request for withdrawal was received. A week or so later, IRCC returned my application because I “did not pay the fees”, so I was able to delete that application and submit a new application. Called an IRCC officer who confirmed that my old application doesn’t exist anymore so I was good to submit a new application. To be honest, it seemed like the departments that was processing withdrawals and applications and refunds weren’t really communicating, but it worked out on my end. Good luck!
