Hello guys. It's been a long time that I haven't posted anything.
We landed last july and we are still coping with the adjustments esp the weather! Working in dubai and coming from a tropical country, an 8 deg weather is too cold for me. :)

Anyhow, i jut would like to advice people to attend CIIP sessions and FOLLOW the MAP. We didn't do that so it is a bit of a hassle since we ran out of time processing things here that we should have done PRE-ARRIVAL. So, that was the downside.

We are still hopeful for the best. My hubby and I are both in school (part time) since our profession is regulated and we can't integrate yet--maybe soon. Even applying to be a postal clerk is hard, everything has to have a cert except jobs at tim hortons, i guess.

If you have any questions, i am willing to help. PM me. Take care and hello Mr E!
which area you have landed and how about the accommodation, are you done with your driving licence, approximately how much time did it take you to get the jobs that you are doing now and @ how much CAD/hr. thanks

Dear friends,

After an arduous wait, I have finally received my passport with stamped visa today.

The visa was issued on 8th October.

I guess the Eid holidays caused an abnormal delay.

Thanks to everyone on this forum for all the support, information and advice I have received over the past 2 years.

Good luck to everyone waiting for updates.

We landed here in Toronto. We live in toronto east (scarborough). We were lucky to get a 1BR in a great neighborhood though we had to submit bank deposit slips ( the deposits we made to the bank here) since we dont have any credits yet.
We have driving licenses already. Had it done the 1st month that we were here. Have your DL certified by your country and bring that certification with you. You have to pass the G1 knowledge test first. Then if your experience is acknowledged (your cert have 2+ driving experience) you can book the road test for G.
If, you forgot to have a cert with you but have a DL card. You can skip the waiting period for the G1 test and book the G1 test right away to get a G2. After a year of G2, you can book for a G2 roadtest and pass it to get the G license.
As i have told you, we havent got any jobs yet. We are both in school and applying at the same time. IT is hard if your profession is regulated since they need a lot of docs and assessment of credentials takes a long time. So we are upgrading and we are hoping for the best.
Anyhow, if ever we truly need to work, general labour jobs are always available. But we arw not into that yet. Maybe when the savings are nearly half.
Depends on the work, there are those jobs that give 10.25 min (postal clerks, GL, tim hortons). And on our profession, draftsmen gets 15-20. But my hubby got an interview where they give only 13-18. So i am not so sure on what to say to you buddy. But, if you need more info. I will be of help.

Congratulations on those who got job offers right away. I am so happy for you guys. PR cards will be delivered 8 weeks from landing. It's pretty cold here now.
Goodluck to us!
