low GPA + PR, is it possible to study in famous Canada University?

Finally i got the PR. i am trying to adopt Canada local labor market well, so i am considering to study in a university.

I got low gpa in China, Industry Design. and 67.5 score in UK for my first master degree, in communication subject.

I worked in top public relationship agencies for nearly 10 years and now i could be a director.

But my academic history is a spot for my application. So based on your experience, could you please help to analyze the opportunity of studying in Delhouse or other famous univeristies?

Likely very low chances to qualify academically. If you are applying to a place with broad based admissions, or special admissions for arts programs, it you have an artistic portfolio you may have an opportunity.

But if you are saying your grades were low in China and the UK, a "famous" Canadian university is very unlikely to admit you to a graduate program. Most require very high undergraduate marks

I found a way that i could apply visiting scholar to study in the university and when my GPA attachieved the requirement, i could. this is a theory, but i do not want to waste my time for that. So thank you again. I do believe that i should go to the community college to study skills to match local labor market requirement.

That's a good way to get rejected. The point of a study visa is not to train you for the local Canadian labour market, it's for you to be better trained for your home labour market. If IRCC thinks you're applying to get a job in Canada and not leave, you will not get a visa.

Yes. And sometimes your plan - getting good grades in a vocational degree - can sometimes help you get into a more academic university. Good luck.

Sometimes your diploma in college will work for you a way better. You will meet admission requirements easily and get all the skills to be effective and successful at your work place. Many colleges offer practicum or Co-op where you can also get work experience. That's a great opportunity

I was in a similar situation. I am not Chinese but did my undergraduate and masters degree in China and my gpa were far to be great (less than 2.8). Upon moving to Canada I did a graduate certificate at a local college which I graduated at with honours. I then applied to a part-time MBA program in Toronto and got admitted quite easily. So it is possible to be admitted with low GPA as there are many factors taken into consideration by the admission committee including your previous work experience. It will also depend of the specific program you are applying to.

For my personal case, I had my CPA and close to 10 years of experience in accounting, with IELTS 8 and 660 at the GMAT so this probably helped with the admission.

If you are looking for another Masters (not MBA) then it should be definitely easier to get an admission even at University of Toronto, UBC and the like. If you just want to have a credential from a "famous" university, you can consider just signing up to a continuing education program in your field, there is no admission requirement and after three of four courses you should obtain your certificate from that university which can take you a year or less.

Hi dear. Can you please share more info ? I have 10 years experience with low GPA, graduated from Engineering university in 2008. My experience is purely in Wireless Networking and in same field want to pursue Masters. Which universities in Ontario are good to apply ?

Given that you are trying for another masters your bachelor degree may count. The fact that you are seeking out another masters may be the bigger issue.
