Hello,
I have been waiting for more than 6 months now for the express entry score to come down to 438 or lower (my CRS score is 438). I am getting married in Feb 2019 and i don't want to over-complex the already frustrating wait time.
Can experienced personnel here please shed some light as to what other options do me & my fiance have to settle in Canada?
I have a Bachelor's Degree with 4+ years work experience, and R8, W7, L8.5, S7.5 score in IELTS, with no Canadian experience (living or working).
Would you recommend waiting more for the score to come down or is there any other way for me to migrate to Canada with my qualifications?
Any help is highly appreciable.

I actually have a full-time job which takes about 11 hours of my day including commuting. and it leaves little time for me to practice or attend dedicated classes for exam preparation. This score was in my second attempt and the exam already costs too much to try it repeatedly.
Only area I believe where I could have performed better is Writing but again, it already took me too much preparation to score 7 in that and I already had to sacrifice a lot of sleep hours affecting my work because of that.
Is there any alternative methods for me or us together to settle in Canada? I am also planning to do a 1 or 2 year PG diploma course in Canada if that can open a way to PR with my existing profile.

Thanks for your helpful comments. But the issue is, what after I have completed my diploma? I am aware that my fiance can apply for a work visa based off my student visa and can stay there as long as i have an active visa but what after the completion of 1-year course? Would they assign me a work visa to find a job and then apply for a PR? I am kinda confused as I little knowledge about the express entry process.

Your points will be 500+ with a masters program in Canada of at least one academic year which will guarantee you ITA with or without a job offer.

Just to add one more point you can also apply for a PGWP, post graduate work permit after you graduate which would enable you to work while you wait for PR. best of luck ...

Thanks! I will also consult my immigration contact and will discuss the same with him. I am already getting so tired of this wait, and like mentioned above, even willing to go there on student visa and then apply for PR.

Waiting for scores to come down is not the right way to approach immigration. I know this sounds too good to be true or its better said than done. Always having 10-15 points more than required is the best way.

Going there as a Student would be an expensive affair and you will most likely regret it later on.

here's why

If you go alone then below are the example

Pathway 1 : Cost approximate 40k CAD
IELTS Acamedic : 13700 Rupees ( GT IELTS will not be accepted)
Course Tuition Fees: $20-$25k CAD
Living Expenses - 12400 For one person for a year while you are a student (If you are thinking that you will work there part time to manage this will not work as this amount will be locked in student account and they will release monthly about 1k to you.)

Even though it is apparent you want to stay back in canada, the student visa application requires you to provide evidence that you will return to the home country and you have stronger ties. Sounds very ironic right:rolleyes: ?

If your wife is planning to join, then you need to consider dependant living expenses as well.

Instead I would suggest start learning French, and take the TEF exam. That should give you additional 30 points.

Suggest your Wife to write IELTS and score CLB9 as well. and you can immigrate for 1/10th of the cost that you would spend on going to canada and study and then get your PSW (post study work visa), and then apply again as CEC class to secure PR is just too much of waste of time and money.

Please note
your Immigration consultant will probably not give you these options as they would want to be done with your application and take your money to move on to the next applicant to sell Canadian Dreams.

You might need all that money when you go to canada and survive there while you search for jobs and get settled down.
Yes studying there might give you an advantage that you have canadian education on your resume, but that does not give you any special treatment when applying for jobs, visa etc.

Hope this helps.

You could pursue a distance 1 yr post graduate diploma in India that will allow you to claim points for two or more degrees. With this your score will go up to 441. You can get spouses IELTS and Eca done to increase points. Even with 6-7 in each section of IELTS and a bachelor's Eca from your wife you have the potential take your crs to 465.

This option would be easier than learning french and much much cheaper than doing a master's in Canada.
