Hi and sorry but I have a lot of questions. I am trying to complete all the forms and they seem easy and then I second guess what I am supposed to put for an answer.
My husband will sponsor me for PR. Waiting for FBI clearance (mailed fingerprints July 8th) then get meds up front and send packet same week.

Questions:

1.My husband got his boss to write the required letter for proof of job, income, length of employment, etc and included that he attended our wedding. But that letter is dated February and that boss just left the company and there is no replacement so far. Do we even mention this in our application? Is the letter ok being dated February when we will submit application in October?

2. How do you enter date of employment when still working there? So it's start and end dates, but he is still working there. And the field to answer the question allows dates only.

3.Last entry into Canada...I went to Fort St. John, BC but it took several flight connections and my first stop in Canada where my passport was stamped was Vancouver, so do I say Vancouver?

4.Does the sponsor complete form 5669 Background Check Declaration or just the immigrant? The form says both do one form each separately but the checklist doesn't mention it for sponsor.

5. Questions that ask family name and given name...Sponsors parents name, do I use sponsors mother's maiden name or her married name? I am asking because it also ask for date of birth, so her name was different at birth of course.

6. Does CIC actually call anyone you list to verify friends that know about the relationship? I ask because I want to let them know that they might get a call if it's a possibility. We really have met everyone. lol.

7. Should I call the FBI to see if they received my fingerprints? I sent with tracking to the proper street address but my tracking showed it went to a PO Box with the same zip code. I called and FBI said all mail to street address gets forwarded to their PO Box and the PO Box mail is picked up twice a day. So do I call to make sure it was picked up from PO Box now?

8. I am doing all the paperwork, and I live in the USA. My husband, my sponsor, lives in Canada. So, how have you coordinated your paperwork if you were in the same situation? Mostly the signatures are what I am lacking, he can scan his documents to me and I can print them. Should I do the entire packet and then send to him by Fed Ex with the places he needs to sign marked and then he mails it all to Mississauga by Fed Ex? We have had very bad luck with postal service and UPS. Does Fed Ex really get there in a day or two? I ask because I have sent lots of letters and paid for overnight using the postal service but then it goes through customs and ends up taking 8 days for a birthday card to reach my husband.

Thanks so much and please accept my apology for such a long post with so many questions that are most likely common sense, but I just don't know the answers.

1- No you need an updated letter, get your supervisor or whoever is superior to you to write a current letter. HR can also write the letter. HR letter is better because they will tell salary, start date, hours etc.
2-so your start date of employment and if you are still there write NA or present in your end date
3- where ever your passport was stamped you write that so yes Vancouver
4- the principal applicant completes it. The sponsored person completes it
5- what ever mothers last and first name are in passport and government if use that name
6- they do not call
7-yea you can call
8- what you can do is get your husband to fill those pages only that require his signature. Tell him sign those pages and send those pages to you. When you receive them attach those pages to the correct documents and send it. FedEx is fine they will deliver to Mississauga in one day. Make sure you send it to the street address not P.O. Box address. FedEx is ok.
No worries for asking questions that what we do here we help each other out!

My wife and just finished our forms and I decided to go to a lawyer just to review our application to make sure it was 100% because if it isn't they mail you the whole application back and tell you to fix the issue, so that's a big waste of time. I saw a lawyer on Tuesday and it was probably the best $100 I ever spent, she gave me lots of good advice and fixed a few issues that would have resulted in our applications being returned to us. I was originally quoted $200 but it only took an hour for her to go through it all, she said I did a great job with everything so it didn't take her long. It's expensive to have a lawyer manage the whole process (about $3-5000) but quite inexpensive for a simple review, so I highly suggest it if you have a couple hundred to spare.
