Lost Study Permit, can I get back in with a copy?

I found myself in a bit of a situation. I left Canada on the 30th of June, got home to Thailand on the 1st of July. Along the way, I managed to lose my study permit, probably fell out of my passport when I was in transit in Hong Kong or something. I managed to submit an application for a new one on the 7th, and hopefully my friend in Canada can Fedex it to me in time. But on the off chance that it doesn't get here or the application doesn't go through, would it be possible for me to re-enter the country? I have a photocopy of the permit, plus a letter from my university saying I study there, and school ID.

If you have a valid TRV, you can enter Canada. Technically, you need a valid SP, photocopy should work, they can access your permit on system with your UCI number.

Update: I might have placed the wrong date on my application form, so my chances of getting a new permit don't look great. If I have to get back in with just a photocopy, what would I tell the people at the border? FYI, I'm coming in by plane.

Need some help with this. Am I supposed to inform the people at the border that I lost my permit?

if you have entered the country before, they usually don't do the immigration n checks again, just look for ur visa..

but they might ask for your status proof, and not sure if a copy will work. it would be better if you contact some expert or wait till you get your replacement.

I've got a letter from my uni stating that i'm enrolled there for the coming semester. Would that be enough?

I actually had the same deal. I left my permit at home, and I told them this and was let in. Were you let in?
