I have lost my pr card. My concern is that my test date could be round the corner since I applied for citizenship in June 2011.
Does anyone know if having the pr card for giving the test and oath is a must? Please please advise
First of, from cic.gc.ca: "If you do not plan to leave Canada, you do not need the card." That infers that a PR does not
necessarily have to have a PR card. That is to say as for your PR status you're good, if you otherwise did not jeopardize your PR status. I understand that your case is different that you had a card which you lost. Now, the proof that you are a landed immigrant is based on your landing paper / CoPR, as long as you don't try to enter Canada from outside. However, if you possess a PR card, CIC will take it back on the day of oath.
Now, since you have lost it, you may want it, if you mean to travel. It also pays to be honest with CIC by saying that you did have a card which you lost. So, if I were you, I would do the next steps in replacing the lost card. You would want to visit http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=47&t=10.
Good luck.
