Hi, i lost my passpoet with student visa. I already got report from police. I'm planning to get new passport from my country's embassy. So next step supposed to apply for new trv right? or first i should apply for new study permit then trv? I will be avoided to leave country after getting new stamp. If anyone has experience, or lots his/her passport then applied to trv and got new stamp. But the thing is i do have 3 semesters (2022 may will expiry) left after that i will be applying to work permit and get work visa as well. So after getting my new passport, do i need apply for TRV or wait for next year to graduate and apply to work visa and get work permit. I wont be able to travel out of canada, cuz i do have classes during this period.

1. get the new passport issued and in your hand first.
2. after your new passport is with you. now you need to apply for a trv replacement because you already had one in the lost passport, you dont need a new one.
3. you do not need a new study permit. once you get the new passport, raise a webform on the website to update your passport information. that will update your study permit.
4. get all of these done first before leaving the country. make sure the trv is on your new passport first incase you need to return.
5. as I said, get the trv replacement, and then once it expires you can apply for a new one. don't wait until you graduate to apply for a trv incase an emergency happens during your 3 semesters where you have to fly back home. you will not be able to come back to canada without a valid trv even if you have a valid study permit.

good luck and keep your new passport at home somewhere safe. get an id card instead to walk around with.

thanks for your time and response. i lost my mind and panicked but I do have classes during summer, fall and last winter semester as well. Therefore, i thought i dont need to apply for trv. But in emergency i should get one ur right. Cuz i thought i will apply for the work permit and they will probably issue me TRV. So then they will give me a one but yes your right its better to be safe. Actually i was goibg to get SIN number , im not sure its stolen or lost. Do you know about the timeline of new TRV. Because there is no anything like replacement of TRV, i should apply for new one.

https://www.settler.ca/english/replacing-temp-resident-visa/ in that website it says you can replace your visa stamp to the new one. However, some people told me to apply for a new one.

I have just asked some people, apparently they stopped replacing lost trvs (sorry for the mistake, i thought they still do that). what you have to do now is apply for a new trv as you said once you get your new passport. BUT you have to attach a letter of explanation when applying for the new trv, which includes the police report number and say in it what happened.

the current processing time is 13 days if you apply online. after the approval you need to mail it to an address most likely in Ottawa which they will inform you about. printing the visa might take another 15 days, so overall it might take you a month. processing times are subject to change so don't make any plans.

oh ur such a lifesaver. I thought processing time is 3 month because in the website it said 90 days. Im trying to find the right document to fill the report and LEO. How can i find the right document to fill and apply. Middle of the next month i will get my new passport. Only reason that i wanted to wait for to graduate is i thought its 90 days. If its 13 days its so much better i can apply but i dont know which file.
