Lost Passport with a valid Canadian visa

Hello,

I currently reside in the US on an H1-B visa (Do not have a Green Card) - Indian passport holder.

I lost my passport which had a valid tourist visa to Canada for another 7-8 years - If I remember correctly it was a 10 year visa.

I currently do have my new passport which lists my old (Lost) passport number - Do I need to apply for a new Canadain Tourist visa? or is there an alternate process.

1. You need to apply for a new TRV and to inform IRCC that the previous passport/TRV was lost and include a copy of the police report.

The police does not provide me the copy of the police report, they just fax the report to embassy. Please advise!
