Lost job after BCPNP nomination

I received my BCPNP (Express Entry Skilled Worker Tech stream) with a job offer from an eligible employer. My nomination is not employer-restricted.

I got my ITA for PR right away. My employer-specific work permit should be nearly done processing, and I was a day or two away from submitting my PR application.

Yesterday my employer fired me. I have a few potential job leads in the same field that would meet all the eligibility requirements that my previous job met, and I emailed BCPNP right away to let them know.

1. What steps do I need to take regarding the work permit?
2. Should I still submit my PR application or should I hold off until I secure another job?

Just curious, why did your employer fire you? Was it an individual termination or layoff? Just wondering as I think Saskatchewan that has a bearing on how much time you get to find a new job.

It was individual termination. The reasons they listed were actually things I had not done, but the communication had been so poor that they had several other people quit or get fired before me.

Hi Abigail, I have been in the same situation recently. Do you remember if you let BCPNP know about the job situation and what did they reply. How much time did they give you to look for a new job? My PR file is under process, I am looking for a job right now. Can you give some feedback from your case?

I let them know right away, and they asked me to submit proof of my job search. They responded that they would continue to support my nomination and may check my job search again, so I submitted my PR. They never did check again, and it took another (very long) few months to find a job, but once I did I let the BCPNP office know and that was that!

I hadn't submitted my PR by the time I lost my job though, so my case was a bit different. However, the officer I corresponded with was understanding and helpful. Just my two cents. Good luck!

Hi @AbigailA:
So I have an update.
I did tell BCPNP about my job loss in an email with an attached pdf document explaining my case. They replied with a general email that you and you (ex-)employer are are obligated to let us know about any status change, job loss, etc. etc. which I did, not sure about my (ex-)employer though. And then not a single reply from them (which makes me wonder if I did something wrong in sending them my information/email.)
Long story short, I finally have received an offer letter after3 months of searching for a job with doing certifications and all - and today received my eCOPR in an approval email.
Question: Should I still send the new job information to BCPNP? Would that be considered under 'too much honesty' category? If I don't send it, can it affect my citizenship/PR renewal process in any way?

First off, congrats on both your job and your eCOPR!

I can only offer my opinion and make a guess, but I think there is no harm in updating the BCPNP. Is it necessary? Probably not, because your PR application has been approved and is no longer contingent on the nomination. Perhaps you could just reply back to the email stating that you received a job offer, but you also received eCOPR, and you would be happy to update the BCPNP with the job information if they require.

Wrong advice. You are supposed to notify each and every change to BCPNP through post nomination dashboard. ECOPR was issued with conditions to BCPNP . If you are not full filling conditions PR can be revoked anytime. Please read post nomination guide.
Read this guide.
https://www.welcomebc.ca/immigrate-to-b-c/bc-pnp-si-post-nomination-guide-pdf
BC PNP nominees are currently given documents upon receiving their nomination that clearly set out their responsibilities, including updating BC PNP upon any loss of their employment. Failure to do so could lead to revocation of the nomination.

Failure to disclose on the other hand could create challenges. Whether it be in a future sponsorship, PR renewal, support for a family member’s visitor visa, there would be more than a few places where one’s undisclosed termination could emerge to IRCC’s attention.

Hi @AbigailA - I have sent them a prior email within one week when I lost my job. I received a general reply from them. And then I was waiting for sending them the new employment offer.
I will send the needed documentation and let them know of the changes. Thanks for your reply.

Hi @Miss bee - As I said earlier, I already informed BCPNP about my 'change in employment status', and received just one general reply from them. Nothing further.

I agree on sending them the documents from my new employer and I also found a couple of things on the BCPNP nomination guide on Page 4:
"Part 1: The Post-Nomination Process
The BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) Skills Immigration Post-Nomination Guide provides information about what happens after you are nominated as a provincial nominee by the BC PNP under the Skills Immigration stream.
Once IRCC has made a decision on your permanent residence application, your BC PNP nomination is closed and you are no longer eligible for post-nomination support."
I was confused with this and thus asked for support.
