Hi all,
Just hoping to see if somebody else is in the same boat as I am.
I recently wrote and passed my citizenship test in Surrey,BC and expecting invite to oath ceremony pretty soon.
They gave me a form on the test day that says that I must bring original PR Card and original COPR (which I don't have ) on the day of oath ceremony. It also says if you don't have either document bring a report of the lost complaint to RCMP. Wondering if somebody else had same experience and if the police report is absolutely needed ?
Honestly I'm not sure how to go about filing a report for a lost document either, I mean I probably lost it few years ago with no photocopy or anything like that.

Thanks very much.

We had our Oath Ceremony a couple days ago and we did not have to show our COPR at all. I even asked specifically since I had it with me and the registration officer replied that he does not need to see (or stamp) it but that we should keep it in a safe place since it will be needed for later pension claims. All they asked for was our PR-cards, our Oath invites and the signed Permission Release and Consent Form that came with the Oath invite.

I have no idea why they're still telling people to bring the COPR to the oath ceremony. You don't need it. I tried to give them mine and they just said that I won't need it until I reach retirement age.

I was also instructed in the invitation to bring the CoPR to the oath ceremony but no one asked for it at the ceremony.

They asked for the invitation and an id at checkin, and later they took away th PR card.

You can apply for a replacement COPR here -

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/application-verification-status-replacement-immigration-document.html

However, this does take several months to get processed.

I'm not sure how to initiate a police request now if you have lost the documents a long time ago.

Like others have already advised, they don't usually ask for the COPR .

As other members already mentioned, they most likely will not check your CoPR at the ceremony. All they need is the PR card. Same thing happened at my ceremony.
Yup, same for my wife and I. It is more common to be asked for it at the interview. At the ceremony, they just wanted the PR card. This was the Mississauga office - maybe other offices are different.

Only if something comes up after the interview but before the oath date they may want to check your documents again. For my ceremony, there was one person I recall who was all ready for the oath when IRCC officials asked him to come to an office for some additional questions. It is possible they did another round of document checks. Whatever it was, it ended up fine since he was at the oath ceremony.

Hi, I know it's been a while ago but I'm wondering how did your ceremony go? I'm currently at the same boat as you and expect to have the ceremony soon at Surrey. Please share your experience.

Thanks!
