I am staying in Canada with a W1 category visa, which expires in June 2014. The Work Permit is closed implying that I can work for a particular employer only. The Work Permit is co-terminus with the visa. If I choose to resign from this company then -
(i) Can I continue to stay in Canada till the expiry of the visa without any work, i.e. till June 2014.
(ii) Can I search for an employment and if I get one (based on a successful LMO authorization), what is the procedure to apply for a new Work Visa and new Work Permit.

Regards

(i) Yes, you can continue to stay in Canada until it expires. If you don't mind me asking, why do you want to resign? I only ask because if there is a just reason for it, you may be eligible to claim Employment Insurance(EI) benefits.
(ii) If your new employer obtains a positive LMO, you first need to apply for your work permit. After getting it, you can apply for a work visa.
