Has anyone heard anything from the LA VO recently? I got PPR a month ago and still waiting.

Originally my husband and I were thinking our application was sent to LA because they mentioned that with sponsorship approval, but we just found out with PPR it is being processed in Ottawa. It's been 7 months for us and we just got PPR today so the wait hasn't been too uncommon...

Ok thanks for sharing. I'm still waiting, hopefully we hear something soon.

I just got asked to send my passport to the LA office yesterday. So do you mean your passport has been with them for about a month now??

Is the States not a visa exempt country? Why did you have to send in your passport?

Hello GeeO, LA requested my passport over a month ago and I am still waiting for them to issue the COPR or confirmation of Permanent residence.

So you are not US citizen I'm assuming? If you dont mind me asking, whats your status here in the US? just trying to confirm if our cases may have any similariteis - I'm on H1B visa.

Also have you contacted by email them at all in regards to your passport? I am just wondering how they can hold someone's actual passport that long. That pretty much means you are stuck in the US till they return it.

I am from a Visa exempt country. They requested photocopies of my passport so I consider that the same as a PPR. I am in canada already with my wife visiting. Originally my application was in Ottawa and got transferred to LA in September 2013. I would say our cases are similar I terms of timeline.

Oh! Well it's not so similar as you have your passport intact and just sent copies- so you are kind of not "stuck". Since I am not from a visa exempt country they need my original passport and that is what worries me. I am looking for someone else who has had to send their original passport to LA to confirm how long they hold it for.

Goodluck!
