What do I do if the CIC spelled my name wrong on my approval letter to sponsor? My name is Aaron but they spelled it Arron.

I was just wondering about the letter for file numbers. I noticed from reading through posts on here that some people that needed to be interviewed or went through the appeal process had a B####, then after they got approved from their appeals or whatnot, their files changed to an F####. I guess the F just means family sponsor class, but it's interesting to see if there is any correlation with getting a B number then CIC requesting an interview. I can't find much on it.

So..I sent one of those case specific inquiries to the LA office last week. I wanted to know if they received our package of supporting documents (including our FBI check!) since it said our file was transferred to LA and that's where we sent our documents. Our sponsorship approval letter said if we need to submit anything, to send the documents there and they included the LA office address. I got a generic response saying that if our file was already in process in Buffalo, it is in the process of being transferred to Ottawa. I guess whoever received our inquiry didn't bother to read it or look up our file since they're skipping Buffalo now.

This state of Immigration is so sad. It's the only service you pay over a grand for and you don't get any "service". What is the point of giving us the information to make a "case specific inquiry" if they don't even read it or check your case for you when you request it? We don't know if they've matched the documents we sent in with our application or if they ever will. I guess it's back to getting yet another FBI check just so if they screw up, we've got our asses covered. /sigh

I just got off the phone with an excellent call centre lady. She told us our file was in Ottawa, and will be transferred to LA for the final Visa issuance. She reassured me and said that our file is "In Process" even though it doesn't say that on ECAS. I asked her what will happen to our paperwork that we sent to LA and she said that they sent it to Ottawa. This is good news. I like hearing that our file is in process. I wonder how much longer this will take.

Are you the sponsor? If so, it doesn't really matter since your name won't be on the PR card, however. If you're the applicant, I'd call CIC and let them know, or send a case specific enquiry to LA

Well, that is some good news for sure. The visa agent I spoke with didn't tell me ours was in process. That is definitely something I would like to hear. It's been over 5 months now! We haven't even gotten an AOR from LA.

They are not processing any of the Step 2 file in ottawa is what the guy told me...it's currently in transit before it is transfered to the Visa office he could not even see which VO my file belonged to...I am so aggravated!

Im asking this question for one of my friends. she is the applicant and is sponsored to come to the US from Iran. usually applicants coming to Canada should do the medical but since shes coming to the US, she is not sure if she needs to do any medical or not, or if she needs to be vaccinated.
any help appreciate it

What annoys me the most is the total lack of information - of course I understand they are busy, and of course I also understand at this transitional period that the IO's probably don't kow their arse from their elbow - however on a human level I would expect the same level of understanding from CIC - that being that there are many out here going round the band when a quick update would suffice.

I know what you mean. Plus I'd add to that, that I get they are going through a transition, but my honest opinion is that it shouldn't touch us. That is, we should be unaffected by their change. But hey, maybe we are. Maybe lack of info is how it usually goes. We have learned recently that it seems to be Ottawa or LA.

We will hear something eventually. For you Moo, when is the last time you heard anything or had any update on ecas?

last concrete piece of correspondance was on Jan 6th when got request for updated police checks and a disposition of a minor offence back in 2001. I sent this to them in feb as soon as they arrived and since then it's been nothing until last month when I sent the buffalo office an email and they replied back saying it was in a queue awaiting a criminality review.

I appreciated that this would prolong it somewhat, but now with this whole Buffalo debacle - I really have almost given up hope of hearing anything.

That really sucks. I am sorry you haven't heard anything in so long. I do believe you will hear something though. It really can't go on forever. But I definitely understand how hard it is. I feel bad about the 3 months I have waited since last hearing anything

Nope not a bean Parker. you know I'm not even sure my file is in LA so I may be crashing your thread lol, i'm just presuming based on others experiences.

Lets hope they start getting the ball rolling soon (or at least holding it ready to roll would be good). Heck, I'd take looking at the ball as a good sign
