oh great buddy...

I too applied for the student permit from LA embassy (got an admit from schulich for fall 2012)
They have a standard processing time of 5 weeks. And it actually took approx 5 weeks for me to get the permit. I got it last week.
The only problem is that within this time frame of 5 weeks they do not respond to either e mails or phone calls. It is an agonizing wait..to say the least
Let me know if have any questions.

My home phone is 559-271-0251.

Thanks for the reply. I live in AL and so I am worried as new AL immigration rules state that you have to carry your original documents at all time. Can I request for case escalation/premium processing stating the rules?

Thanks

I emailed consulate on 25th and got the standard reply that they have heavy volume and gave me a case number and is awaiting processing by a Visa Officer. They also cashed the money order on the same day :D hope they issue visa faster. I am going to work on public transport stupid Alabama laws.

Got my passport back today. So it took 30 days as mentioned in their website :D

I just noticed something strange. He returned my transcripts without even opening them :D Just a waste of 20$ here and my uncles work back in India. Even returned the copies. Only documents retained by them are bank statements, passport copies and admission letter. Do I need original admission letter while entering like I-20 in USA?
