Hello everyone.

I hope everyone is safe and sound. I'm new to this forum, I don't know if it is right place to ask this question. Please pardon my mistake. I'm looking for an honest opinion before beginning my Canadian Immigration Application process.

I'm 30 years old married guy (turning 31 in January) with a son, I hold a Masters Degree in Business Administration (16 years education) and possessed more than 6 years full time work experience, 5 year of which in Banking sector.

My wife (29 years old) has done D-Pharmacy (17 years education), she has one year full time experience but in the year 2012. Her IELTS has recently expired and I have not appeared for it yet. But, I’m confident that we both will do well in IELTS exams. My wife’s previous IELTS (Academic) score was R=7.5, W=7.5, S=7, L=8.5

Moreover, I did an online assessment on CIC website and the Core CRS score turn out to be 400 for me and if my wife becomes the main applicant then it is 435. Considering the fact, last year closing CRS score was 460. Worth mentioning here that, we do not have any relatives living in Canada.

Having said that, I append below some questions which are constantly raising in my mind.
• What are our chances of immigration?
• Who should become the main applicant? (Me or my wife)?
• Is there any PNP which offer good chances for Pharmacist?
• I fall under the category of NOC 1212 or 1221. Are these profession in need?

It will be of great help if any expert could answer above questions after reviewing my profile.

Thanks.

quite good... i think pharmacy is in demand... but then i believe its a licensed profession... if its a licensed profession, procedure is slightly different to apply i heard (but i could be wrong)
• Who should become the main applicant? (Me or my wife)?
You should be main applicant in my opinion since you have more work experience... to have a decent chance you need to have 3+ years work experience to get full points... your wife also is a good candidate but i dont know how the pharmacy occupation thing works there...
• Is there any PNP which offer good chances for Pharmacist?
you will need to do the research i'm afraid... but do that - its a very good learning
• I fall under the category of NOC 1212 or 1221. Are these profession in need?
you will need to do research yourself

comment : what i dont understand is why your score is only 400, it should be much much higher.... you have masters degree also... in IELTS if you aim for Listening 8.0, reading 8.0, writing - 7.5, speaking 7.5 you should easily score well over 450 points... the cut off these days is 482, but many are hopeful it will come down to around 460 by feb/mar next year (this is just based on theory and observation, there is no data i can use to back this statement) which means you can probably get direct ITA also without PNP...
my first advise to you is to get your education and your wifes education evaluated by WES, and book an ielts date ASAP... these things take up a lot of time so you need to get started ASAP.
there is a program called OINP, from ontario... previously they were giving out notification of interest to any candidates with over 400 points in the pool , which means if they accept your profile (for a fee of $1500)they will nominate you.. it has stopped for now as its 2016 quota has been reached, but they are going to restart in november this year according to their site so you need to be ready for that.. the criteria for them may change however - but no one knows what it is yet.

Thanks.

Thanks @thestunner316 for your response. Yes, you are right pharmacist need a license to work in Canada. I myself do not know why my score is so slow although my qualification and experience is quite well. I still have doubts whether I should take the chance or not.

Anyone else here, who can assess my case please?

i think you should go ahead, your profile is quite good...
what did you mention as ielts scores ? IELTS has a massive weightage in CRS scores, like listening if you get 7.5 , is like 50 points less than if you get 8.0

You were right, when I recalculate the score with some increased IELTS score it turn out as 457. So, IELTS got very high weightage in CRS score. One of consultant told me and my wife to appear for IELTS. The one who score well should be the main applicant.

It's time to fast my seat belts for IELTS preparation in true sense.

yes, but start with WES assessment also in the meanwhile, that takes easily 4-6 weeks

Don't you think its wise to get IELTS done before starting WES assessment? An actual IELTS score will make our way much more clear either to jump into immigration or not. BTW what are charges for WES assessment?

as far as I know
234 CAD$ per applicant

no, WES assessment takes atleast 4-6 weeks... from the time of getting documents from stupid 3rd world lazy people (from my country) to posting them, then WES evaluating it...
ideally you should do both simultaneously, and write ielts as many times as you wish till you reach desired scores.

Okay, and what about validation of WES assessment. How long it is valid for?

Note that if your wife is/was a Pharmacist, she needs to have her credentials assessed by the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada, rather then one of the general Educational Credential Assessments.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/assessment.asp

http://www.pebc.ca/index.php/ci_id/3374/la_id/1.htm

Also note that for the IELTS, the general test is required, the academic will be rejected.

Yes, I know that but if my wife is not the main applicant still then she needs to have her credentials assessed by the PEBC for including her points in core CRS score or in this scenario it can be done by WES?

Her credentials must be assessed by PEBC.
