It's important to get an idea of comparable salaries in your chosen city in Canada as there will be differences. The majority metropolitan cities will have higher wages, but your cost of living will also be hirer.

Use job boards like: eluta.ca and indeed.ca to give you some good perspective of current positions. Also use salary surveys on workopolis.com and monster.ca for regional salary information.

Find recruiters/agencies that specialize in your area of work/industry and many will have a specific field they deal in. One place to start is to look at the lists on careego.com (also look at their resume samples for the Canadian marketplace)

Careego.com -- Career Resources -- Agencies & Recruiters - Canadian Agencies and Recruites (a small national list to get you started)

Learn the Canadian job search process and what is expected on an interview. Learn what Canadian employers can and cannot ask you. You should never volunteer personal information like your age, marital status, number of children etc. Legally Canadian employers can’t ask this – and don’t volunteer it, as it has no bearing on your ability to do the job. If you’re trying to show you’re responsible and dependable, do so with examples from your work experience, not your personal life.

Careego.com can give you a deep insight into the Canadian job market and what is expected of you and what you can expect.

Good luck!
:)

Should I or Should I not?

Hi,
I am at serious Emergency.
Need your frank comments please.
I am in the process of applying for F1 (Student) Visa for USA. Now, I have to submit a questionnaire. The last question in that questionnaire is- Did you apply for immigration or citizenship to any other country? If yes, then which country and what is the status of your application.

Please, I know it is awkward, but given the fact that my being a potential immigrant to Canada, the US consulate may reject me from Student VISA there. So, should I disclose that I have applied for Canadian Immigration in the Student Visa form for US?

I have only 24 hours to decide. I am sincerely looking for your pragmatic suggestion (no matter how awkward it is!).

Hi,

My name is Shevlin LeBlanc and i am currently doing a diploma in Human Resource Management. I should complete in march 2011 and go on to do my bachelors in that same field. My previous experience has mainly been administrative and I have also worked with two Lawyers as their assistant. I have one dependant my son who is 6 yrs old, and I have one relative in Canada. Check that your HR Management Diploma is similiar to the Canadian HR Diploma.

Check out the http://www.hrpa.ca/Pages/Default.aspx site. This is the governing body for HR Professionals and most HR professionals will have a membership with this group and will have an equivalency from them.

You can get a B.A. Degree from almost any Canadian University in HR Management depending on the city you're immigrating to.

Rajinder,

If you want to post your qualifications a better place is on sites like www.workopolis.com and www.monster.ca where companies and recruiters are actively looking. If you want to search for positions I suggest you also try sites like: www.eluta.ca, www.indeed.ca and www.simplyhired.com.
