Hello....

I have been waiting for some updates on my citizenship application since Nov 2008. Online information states that the file processing is ongoing since Nov 2009. I recently had to renew my PR card, because it reached expiry.

Is the waiting time normal???

Will writing to Jason Kenny be of any use??

I have checked my online status and also called up the office several times only to be told the same thing over and over again.

I want to sponsor my husband but am unable to because I got laid off 2 yrs ago. I have been getting job offers with a requirement of "french" and "citizens required".

Waiting has taken me no where.

Can experts on the forum kindly answer my question and suggest effective political figures who I could contact??

Any information is awaited.

Thanks

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Through the freedom of information act, you can order the notes from immigration to see what is happening with your citizenship application. You can find the form here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/requests-personal.asp

You can also talk to your MP about pushing your case.

So you have been unemployed for 2 years? Are you currently on welfare? Not having a job will not stop you from sponsoring your husband but being on welfare will.

Nopes, not on welfare. But still unemployed. I thought it clearly mentions on the site that I should have some sort of income to support him. If there is a way to sponsor him without being employed, could you guide me to that information??

Much thanks

Yeah, you can find it here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3900E2.asp

This is one of the requirements to sponsor a spouse:

prove that you have sufficient income to provide basic requirements for your spouse or common-law partner’s dependent children. To do this, you must provide documents showing your financial resources for the past 12 months. This requirement applies only when dependent children who have dependent children of their own are included on the application.
So what that means is that there is no specific income requirement to sponsor your spouse unless your spouses grandchildren are included in the application. However, immigration can still refuse you if they are unsure of how you will support yourselves in Canada. If your husband is currently working and providing for you and he speaks English or French and would be employable in Canada, they would probably not have any problem with that. If however you are not working and he is not working or he is working but doesn't speak much English or French and is therefore not very employable, it is possible that they would refuse you based on you not being able to provide for yourselves.
