Dear friends,
I have processed my application through a consultant.
My passport is due to expire in May 2013. As per the information in the medical papers, the validity of the visa issued is for one year or if the date on which the passport of any member of the family whose passport expires at the earliest.
Since, my passport is expiring in the month of march 2012, I understand that the visa will be issued until that date.
Now, the issue is I have completed my medicals in May 2012 and have not even received the passport request. I do not have any choice but to wait of course!
My consultant has cautioned me not to renew the passport as it will cause a lot of delay in the procedure especially as the medicals are already over.
The consultant says that usually the PPR arrives within 90 to 120 working days after submission of the medicals.
My queries are as follows:-
Should I renew the passport now before the PPR without fear?
How much time do they take to return the passport after stamping?
Further, I stay in a GCC country and need to renew my residence permit in October, If I do so, will it affect my case?
What if the PPR does not arrive beyond the above time of 90 to 120 days and comes after the expiry of the current passport?
I would be grateful if someone could help me with some good piece of advice.
Thanking all in the forum and best of luck.
Hi
Your dates are kind of confusing, you say due to expire in May 2013 and then say March 2012.
Anyhow I think you mean May 2013. If you are in Dubai , then your passport can be renewed in 5 days and if you live in other states like Abu dhabi or Sharjah , then i think a maximum period of 40 days , also if you want urgent renewal , you pay an extra fee and get it under 5 days . I am not sure about other GCC countries though.
So you do have options to renew your passport. Its up to you if you wanna decide to do it now. You can do the maths and see for yourself. for eg : if you give for passport renewal through urgent basis, you would get it back in 5 days or less time and still be able to submit your passport to your visa office as the minimum time period they usually give for passport submission is 30 days.
Visa offices usually ask you to wait for 6 weeks after sending the passport .
I don't think renewing your residence visa will affect your case in anyway. I have done mine last year . The LVO would understand that renewal of visa is something which is mandatory for us and not an option.
if PPR comes after the expiry of passport that is in your case after May 2013, then you can do nothing but to renew your passport and then send it , you cant send an expired passport for visa stamping. I think it would be another case that the visa is already stamped and then the passport expires.
All the best for you
Cheers!
