[size=20pt]Regarding Background Checks: Standard Documentation Checks

  • During the PER stage documents background check is done which is an indication is the ECAS that shows ”In Progress".

  • All documents been checked & the NOC being tallied against FSW.

  • Officer finds the case eligible for Canadian PR, the case becomes Accepted; and then it goes for standard background checks, like Experience, Qualifications, Adaptability, Language, Qualitative Considerations etc.

  • If file is well presented and the enclosures are guaranteed by quality-quantity, adequate POF docs etc., there might not be a requirement of actually calling the employers, references etc.

  • If there are any concerns of applicant is likely to ask for additional docs, do further scrutiny like calling, visiting etc. or might ask for an Interview.

- Outcome: When fully satisfied, then go for Medical Request.
- ECAS: Continues to Show In Process.

Regarding Background Checks: Security & Criminality Checks

  • Most of case it commences after the medical results are submitted to the CIC/VO.
  • This is a major activity, mainly concerning any Political, Socio-Economical, Anti-Social disposition, perceived Threat to Canada's integrity etc.

  • This is a time consuming stage and something serious, involving many agencies, including CSIS, Interpol, NASC, Database Checking & touch-base with Local Police, etc…

  • Many things are considered here... the number of countries visited, Applicant coming from certain countries, ex-Servicemen including Law Enforcement services, Prolonged stay in a country with or without sufficient documents to prove cause, frequent traveling to certain nations, Name (?), Inter-Religion /Nationality Marriages etc.

  • If everything is simple & straight, the file soon gets into the final review stage.

  • If there are any red flags, the case goes into a spin. Then file might go to the local Police/CID agencies; the outcome/timeframe of which is beyond the control of CIC. And thereby the timeframe can be anything. However, a point to be noted is that PA can also be called for an Interview [at this stage], due to this reason.

- Outcome: Only upon security clearance applicant receives the PPR.
- ECAS: Still In Process, but 'Medical Results Received' inside.

The Process at a glance:

Stage-1: [CIC stage]
  • Send Initial Apps + Processing Fees to CIO-NS
  • Qualitative Check
  • Issue of PER

Stage-2: [CHC/VO stage onwards]
  • Send Full Docs + RPRF to the Local Visa Office
  • File on Queue
  • ECAS: "Received by Visa Office"
  • Eligibility Check
  • Issue of AOR
  • Background Check
  • Issue of Additional docs Request [if any]
  • ECAS: "In Process"
  • Send Additional Documents
  • Issue of MR

Stage-3: MR + RPRF Sent

  • ECAS: "Medical Results Received."
  • Issue of PPR*
  • Send Passport(s)
  • Security Check
  • Visa(s) Stamped
  • ECAS: "Decision Made"
  • The MR & PPR are sometimes 'clubbed' together.

Stage-4: Return of 'Stamped' Passport/COPR
  • Landing at the POE
  • ECAS: "Completed".

I would like to know whether LVO updates the second line in ECAS? I have the first line in ecas recently.

Just wanted your expert opinion on this

Yes, they do. I go my 2nd line updated 2 months after my PER. Then got the MR 3 weeks after 2nd line. Good luck.

You've mentioned that addition docs were requested on 12jan and MR also on Jan 12..is that correct?

Any idea after the additional docs request when can U expect the Mr request?

LVO: Extra Docs Requested

I received the following message from London Office:

((Please provide the following items within 30 days:

new employment reference letter plus payslips and proof of bank deposits for current employment))

My questions:

1)Should I provide a letter just for the current position (which I took 10 months ago) or all the position I held with my current employer since I joined 5 years ago ??

2) Does the payslips should be just for the last 10 months and should they be stamped or system generated ?

3) Should I provide proof of bank deposits showing only the funds needed for settlement or all my savings ?

Also, I want to know where I am in the process (application received jul 14, File number received on 15 Nov 14, and received the above letter dated 30 Jan 15)

Appreciate your help. Thank you guys :o

Help please!
I have taken SAUDI PCC last year and sent to LONDON embassy last February 2014. Now they called for an interview, do I still need to get another SAUDI PCC? I am not sure if this SAUDI PCC that I have right now has expiration date because when it was translated it has no expiry date written in the translated one.

Golden rule with regards to Visa Offices: DO NOT GO OVERBOARD WITH SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS WITH VISA APPLICATIONS. Just furnish ONLY those documents that they specify/require. It will make their as well as your job easy.
So in your case, if they haven't requested saudi PCC, then please do not take it for interview. However, You may take all your academic documents, job offer letters etc to your interview, but only show them the documents when requested.

I am waiting from last 80 odd days. PER on Nov 11, 2014. LVO is bit slow as compared to other VOs. I hope, i will get next step reply of interview/medical within a month. So i guess considering the current trends, avg time is aprox 3 to 3.5 months
