Thank you.barcomi said:Thank you for the post! Did you have to show money you carry with you or money in bank account? Also, how did they check the funds are genuine???
You have to show your packing list as the normal procedures for the first time landed immigrants +
B4 form + photographs of the jewellery carrying with you with their evaluation done from any jeweler (Not an issue if you have original receipts) + the most important you have to show your POF, only the below mentioned are the excepted POF:-
1. Cash
2. DD
3. TC
You need to carry the required POF based on your family composition, you can calculate the amount required for POF from the below link.

Note: - You can carry en number amount of money with you for the first time. Keep the receipts of the money exchanged into CAD$.
Recommended to carry almost all of your savings doesn’t matter how much you have some lakhs or millions . As the first time only this money will be tax free, there after every time there will be taxes on the money and stuff you bring with you in Canada.
If you are taking cash more than 10,000 CAD$ you just need to inform Border security force there at Airport, they may check some of the currency notes just for security reasons nothing to do with source of income etc…
If you don’t carry all of your money or stuff like your furniture with you at the first time declare it in the ‘Goods to follow’ list, so that if you bring this in future there will be no taxes imposed on them.
