Just had chance to discuss about CIIP session with someone (not FSWP 2013) and according to him, it was not worth attending the session for some 8-9 hours knowing about how cold and large is Canada, how many provinces and territories it has, its population etc etc...
The activity sessions were useless as individuals in group were assigned to define what is success, what is the most challenging thing they have done so far etc etc...
There was some useful advise on Canadian style resume and cover letter, but I personally disagree with this as being involved in hiring process in my institution, I assure that every person has different taste of reading resume, so I think there is no Canadian style or UAE style or Pakistani style resume. 80% people I know involved in hiring process who don't even bother to read cover letter, but if it was helpful for him to fix his resume.
There were some advise on licensing requirements but it was again too generic (and people who need license to work in their profession may have already known this stuff at the time of applying for FSWP). If someone raised some specific question, he was told to wait for MAP session.
Then in MAP session, they filled a form called MAP, they already had template and the form has so many links for job agencies (like monster, indeed etc), settlement issues, schooling, tax, licensing etc. I would like to see that form of course. But according to my friend, it could have been filled and emailed to him which would save his and their time in some more constructive discussion. Anyway, I think job is the paramount worry of new comers and providing them with useful links and sharing their details with job agencies (for full time, part time, internship & even volunteer work) is good initiative.
I wish if I hear from someone in this forum who have personally attended it and shed some more light.
Best wishes to people who have got MRs & PPRs during the week.
