Hey everyone,

Congrats to everyone who are moving forward in the process and to those still waiting my fingers are crossed it happens soon...

Quick question I was asked to send my updated family info and pics to issue my visa but have heard nothing for 5 weeks not even if they have received it, is this normal? If not who would be best to e-mail??

Thanks everyone xxx

Congratulations Rawdah ( I just viewed your profile on this page) for the medicals. Congratulations to everyone who got updates in last couple of weeks. I was away due to my landing preparations.

We have landed yesterday at Toronto International airport. We took Emirates from Lahore - DXB - YYZ. A380 flight was pretty amazing and the plane itself was smooth and comfortable. Legroom was good (way better then 777-300 ER [LHE-DXB]). We landed at around 3.50 PM Toronto time and it was 14 C. Anyway, we followed all the signs till Passport control, where we were directed to Visitors Line, The lady at the counter took our declaration cards (provided by airline), and reconfirmed if everything is correct, she viewed passports, and then stamped Declaration cards and greeted us "Welcome to Canada". Next we were directed to Immigration Section. We waited for 5 mins as the officer was dealing with a student landing. Once we were called, he asked questions like, if we are going to live with relatives, or any friends, relatives here, if its our first landing, when were you married, any other dependants etc, Pretty much basic questions. Any how, he got our COPR, wrote few details, address, amount that we have brought (he asked, and I just told verbally). He then took signatures, stamped passports and greeted us "Welcome to Canada". It took not more then 10 mins. We were then directed to Service Canada counter where we got our SIN Cards. It took 10 mins to get two SIN Cards. After that, we went to collect our luggage, once done, we were asked to move to Customs, we waited for couple mins before an officer called, one of the nicest officers so far:). He asked couple of basic questions, I provided him list of accompanying goods, he didn't ask us to open our luggage just to check, but straight away stamped the papers. He asked about cash, if it's CAD or USD or any other currency, I told CAD, he wrote and then stamped and gave us our papers and greeted us "Welcome to Canada". Anyway, we went outside, called Homestay to pick us up, he was already on way because he knew the flight was on time. He reached in 5 mins and then we went to Homestay. I am still here. Today I went to a mall, we got our Virgin Mobile SIM cards, I wanted to get WIND but our Galaxy S4 were not compatible with their network, so I had to choose from other operators. There was Telus, Fido, Virgin, Bell, Rogers etc etc. So Fido, Virgin and couple others had similar packages, so we selected Virgin for its member perks. Got $45 package for 750 mins and 750mb data (we can downgrade once a month for free). We then opened our Bank Accounts with RBC. Booked an appointment to view an apartment tomorrow. Now we are tired again and in room and going to take a long rest again.

Just picked up the passports.

(1) Passport with immigrant visa, with one entry allowed
(2) Two copies of CoPR. One copy with photograph attached, and stamped. The second copy is without photograph.

Hello Friends , I have been not attending the forum from last few weeks , so congrats to all who are moving forwards in their applications. Now
an update from me :

PPR1 received today by LVO saying that I need to fill in the attached form and send my scanned Passport copy with in 30 days.

But there is a bit of problem , I have manual passport and not the machine readable one , will LVO accept it. I cannot get a machine readable passport beause my UK visa has run out , case is still with HomeOffice , and Pakistani consulate is saying that they won't issue a readable one unless they see my visa. So I was thinking of approaching my local MP and press HomeOffice for my Passport. But that will benifit me only if LVO will accept manual passport.
PLEASE REPLY

Congrats mate..

As far as I know, manual passports are acceptable. However, you cannot get a machine readable passport until you land.
