Hi All..

I have a Jet airways flight.. Where stopover in London (Heathrow) is almost 16 hours. Also, the connecting flight is for next day morning. Now.. Airline is not helping for any VISA..

I called up VFS UK.. They say I wud need a transit VISA as the flight is on next day.

Anybody faced a similar situation..?
Transit visa also faces rejections?

if u have to stay at the airport with same airlines than u dont need any transit visa or if stay is over 12 hours than u need visa
if u r chnaging the airlines than also you need visa

The stay is about 16 hours.
The next flight is different carrier - Air Canada.

So then I need a VISA that means.

yes u need a visa :) go for it soon book your vfs appointment, as u have not visited UK before so u cant access the fast track but I am not sure they have started taking in fast track :p
do it asap!!!

Whether u checked uk boarder agency website? Its clearly mentioned that those who have valid us/canada visa dont need transit visa.

Hi..
Could you provide a link please ?
I called up VFS for this and they said I certainly need a Transit VISA..

Also, as per this link, what you said is true but does not apply to nationals of INDIA.. :( :(

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigration/visiting/transit/visa/

Confirmed this info from the British Airways helpline as well.. :(
I cud not take any chances that is why I went ahead with VISA application..

Cud you correct me if I am wrong.. thanks..

Check the link 'transit without visa' concession in the above link i mentioned. It gives all the necessary information.

The link provided and information here is correct. You dont need a direct airside transit visa if you have a valid US/Canada entry visa (student visa in your case) and a confirmed ticket via UK to Canada (which you will be having) - another condition which i think they check but its not mentioned here is your next flight should be within 24 hours of your first flight to UK.
Next day does not mean 24 hours. Only if you have a stopover more than 24 hours - you need a visa.

PS- VFS Does not know SHIT...my dad for his travel called them for a few things and they were useless - They are just a courier service for the visa offices

my layover tym is 4 hrs 15 min in heathstrow,london...so i don't need transit visa..can i go outside d aiport in between dat time period????

No. For that you'll need an transit visa.

will i get transit visa frm airport???

It is better to get the transit visa in advance. You are able to get a transit visa for few hours at the airport, however it is highly unlikely if you are travelling in this region for the first time.
Also 4 hour stop over is not enough to go to the city and come back - if thats what your plan is. They usually give transit visa at airport for those who have 6 hours plus (usually 9 to 12 hours of stop)
This is from personal experience.
