We received your application to sponsor name* on January 21, 2011.
We started processing your application on February 17, 2011.
We sent you a letter on February 17, 2011 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.
We received name's application for permanent residence on February 24, 2011.
We started processing name's application on May 6, 2011.
Medical results have been received.
So this is what has happened till now. My question is that my wife is not in UK right now her mother died so she had to go back to pakistan. He still has work permit till the end of 2012 and i am pretty sure her case would be processed before that. Now my question is when London office asks for passport to stamp the visa, does she have to make the trip to UK or she can post the passport to london office and get it stamped? Please advise coz it would be costly option for me to send her.

Hi!!

according to our experience our app is still in process for more than 8 month total now (over 6 months in London!!)

but I saw some very fast cases on this forum - looks like most of the applicants' process is very fast. however, I think length of process in cic London much depends on your background - citizenship, how many countries have resided in (had temporary/permanent residence, not just short-term visits). In our case it's 3 countries in total so I guess that is why it's taking them so long to get b/checks done.

I am sure it's not every case when they do it, but I think it's absolutely depends on background.

we've applied and received TRV (from Denmark) during the process - had to mail the passport in and it returned to us with a visa stamped in it.

for the PPR - not sure, but I think it's better to ask ppl who had already done this before and already got PPR with a similar case - background/citizenship/residence.

I think your wife would be ok to send the passport to London from Pakistan, but obviously it would have to be returned to her in pakistan. She can't leave without her passport!
I sent mine to London from Canada and had it sent back to canada. There are other countries that use the UK visa office too.
It seems higher risk to send the passport to and from Pakistan however so its up to you.
When you get the PPR you have 45 days to submit it, so perhaps it would be better for her to travel back to UK anyway.
Good luck!

Someone told me that you can not mail passports! so that is why i was asking ... Otherwise if u send registered mail from even pakistan there shouldnt be any problem.
(My father mailed his passport to canadian embassy to get his visa stamped, and it got stamped) ... i was under the impression that may be Canadian embassy in UK follows a different protocol or something ...

well I think common sense - no matter where you send your passport from, send it with a reliable post service company so they receive it on time and do include a return envelope with your address on it and stamps. I've sent my passport to them to get a visa stamped from DK and they returned it to me using International Signed for mail (used international stamps I provided).

My wife got her visa on June 09, 2011
Hello there,

did you mean july 9? because if she got an email for ppr on 1st of june its not possible to get visa in 9 days especially when you have to post it from pakistan and then receive!

one more thing, I have applied from London too and my application was received by London VO on 25th of may'11, they must have done the background checks for your wife from both of the countries, my question is, did they ask for any additional documents after receiving her application or just emailed her when decision was made?

any help will be appreciated, thanks : )

Hi, Imran!
yes, correct - she can mail her passport in and have it stamped without making a trip to the UK. at least in our case this wasn't a problem at all. and then ur wife can land anytime before her visa expires.
