Hello

we have received our police certificates and one has 'No Live Trace'. This means there is something on your criminal record.

After calling ACRO, they told him that it says he was cautioned for forging documents 3 years ago. He has never been cautioned or arrested for any such thing!

He was the victim of ID theft around that time so we think it is connected to that - but cannot prove this. ACRO suggested we contact the police and gave us a number.

He called the police, but they didn't have a clue who to talk to and took a message to pass on to someone. They also said after he told them the date of the conviction "oh.. umm.. well that was a while ago i don't know if there is any information".

So... what do we do? Do we write a letter to go with the police certificate explaining what we think has happened, or does anyone know if the embassy will require some sort of official documentation?

I am about to send in all supporting information but wasn't sure if i should wait first...

Thanks all
