$85 sounds like a lot. Did you send huge stacks of paper ? What service did you opt for ?
I sent my application (1 person) for $20 Xpresspost (GTA to Sydney).
the calculator does not work for some reason...the page is all distorted. Opted for National Priority.
Weight was 475 GMS to precise.
I just did a quick calculation, Xpresspost came out to $23 for a 500gm package (10" x 10" x 3" size parcel) and priority came out $44. What's your location ? I think Xpresspost would've sufficed because it was delivered in less than 48 hours for me.
I shipped from Brampton...I am looking at my bill and this is what it says...

Priority letter Nat - IM - $40.60
NSH 15%
Priority - 35.02
Additional taxes and surcharges incl....was $85
Did they send it some kind of special box or envelope ? Maybe charged you for that. Not sure, but $85 is a rip off fro 2 day shipping. Like someone mentioned above purolator is $28 and delivers the next day. Fastest I've seen.
475 grams ??? That is a lot of paper! How many applications are included in the package?
P.S: Priority of CanadaPost is a scam! I sent my application with XpressPost (which is waaaay cheaper) and it was delivered in 2 days! (signature and tracking #)
CanadaPost is awesome, and I love XpressPost ..it's always come through for me ..
On more than one occasion I was the last person in before closing, and the postman would wait for me to finish and he'd take my envelope .. very kind and courteous ..
I think they measure the package and weigh, so it depends on those two things, apart from shipping method ..

I sent mine through UPS , Charged $40 from Mississuga, Submitted on Friday evening and just got delivered

Mine delivered too today. It was signed by 'R.LAURENDOE'. Anybody application signed by this person?I sent mine through UPS , Charged $40 from Mississuga, Submitted on Friday evening and just got delivered
