Hello sorry this might be a naive question, but I would like to know if there is any issue if I logged into my wife's pr portal account to work on her spousal sponsorship? We started working on the application while I visited her 3-4 months back in our home country, we completed some forms and then I came back to Canada and got busy with the work. Now I have taken off work few days to finally finish the application but I am wondering if there might be any objection as to why her account would be getting logged into from spouse's country and not hers? I will be the representative and will have to do mostly everything as my wife doesn't speak English and isn't familiar with computers, so I believe it should be ok as long as I get my wife to write her name/declaration before the final submission. Please clarify this for me so I can work towards completing the application. Thank you

There is no problem but I would advise to fill the information together (use screen share) so you are both fully aware of what has been written in the forms. Some data might be differently interpreted - so you both agree on every point or you may make a mistake that she will be able to correct. Two pairs of eyes is always better. Signing a declaration isn't just putting one's name into the box, but as far as IRCC is concerned is taking full responsibility for the content of the application. If there is a material error, the primary applicant will cary the whole burden of consequences.

ok thank you for your reply and your suggestion for us to fill the info together. I know some of the forms are going to require a lot of patience such as entering dates and proof of my visits, job-employment details, addresses, sorting pictures, explanation letters, so it might not be that easy for my wife to constantly stay online with me as she has our 1 year old very needy daughter to look after, feed, play with.

So I am thinking of doing most of the generic info or info related to myself or information that is easy to fill out, and once that is done she can login and go over everything and we can edit along the way and she can do her digital signs where required?

I just read this on ircc website:
An immigration representative (an immigration consultant or lawyer) can give you advice and help you with your application for a fee. But they can’t

  • open a portal account on your behalf
  • electronically sign the application for you
  • sign into the portal using your username and password
so does this mean I the sponsor acting as unpaid representative can't login to my wife's account to help with completing the forms? If I can't access her account, how am I supposed to fill the forms? or does this only apply to paid immigration representatives since they have their own accounts? Plz help I'm really confused here.
