I think it depends on where you are and if the Human resources Canada are not experiencing any delay. Last year I got mine in less than a month and1/2. This year I have been waiting for 10 weeks.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
I know from my friends who are TFW's that first the employer has to apply for an LMO to Service Canada. First he may have to meet some requirements like advertising the job so he can say that nobody applied. He also has to be offering market wage. He can apply for an LMO for a specific person or he can apply for an open LMO, 1 or more, without having specific people he wants to hire. When he gets the LMO he will give it to you and you use it to apply for a work permit. If you are from a visa exempt country, you can drive to the border and do it there.

To apply for a LMO can take from a few weeks to a few months. I know one guy who is right now waiting for his LMO since July 1. He is in a fairly priority profession and he was told originally that it would take 7 weeks and now nobody seems to be able to tell him anything, including why it's taking so long.
