LMO or no LMO ?

Hi,

I am a European national - I can enter Canada without a TRV. I am a management consultant working for an global consulting company in Europe

A canadian client have appointed our firm for a 6 weeks project - we now have a contract with them.

Do I need an LMO before boarding or can I get a Work Permit when entering Canada ?

Nobody with similar experience can help me ? I'm still not clear on whether I need an LMO or not...It in fact seems a bit ridiculous to ask for an LMO for a 6 weeks project but I can't find anything that covers my case on cic website ?

Also, it says that the LMO needs to be requested by the employer in Canada, my employer while in Canada will be my current European employer, it doen't really make sense for them to apply for an LMO in Canada?

Any experience shared would be very helpful.

Have you talked to your human resource department? I would imagine they would know more. It seems highly unlikely to me that you would need a LMO for 6 weeks.

Thanks Erick - I have filed a work permit application in a VAC today - the lady didn't mind me not having an LMO - we'll see what happens.
